It'll take MUCH longer than 14 hours. My best friends dad drives semi-trucks to and from LA to here like 3 times a week, and he goes virtually non-stop. Takes him 24 hours at LEAST.

Will, if you make it here, you can crash on our couches. We have like 4, and one is a futon.

The big rigs have to go slower, hit the scales and are subject to random
inspections. LA-SEA about 18 hours depending how often you stop.
As far as being boring, not so bad if it's your first time...after all
you're a GD metalhead, bring CD's! Keep it near of below the limit in Douglas county (Oregon) and also crossing the Columbia river into Washington. Other than that "balls out"- or go for 85mph and 60 around cities. If you can, leave LA in the early evening. You'll avoid the traffic and beat the heat. In the morning you'll be popping up in treesville and get some nice views of volcanoes on your right with a possible sunrise behind them. It's not that bad and pretty nice in August. But, bring water! Not just for you but possibly the car...

make sure once you get out of the valleys and you're on I-5 in the middle of nowhere, do at least 100 mph. If you don't, then you'll be pulled over for driving too slow. Also, make sure you hit Harris Ranch...best fuckin steaks around. You'll know you're gettin close when you can smell the cows (or see the ranch itself)

If you actually make it to San Diego...check out Bluemeanie records in El Cajon. It's a landmark place for metal in San Diego. The scene revolves around that place pretty much. If you can't make it there, then visit Hillcrest and get your groove on baby...yeaaah.
