Necrophagist - Epitaph is damn good.

I've been debating rather I should get this or not. I thought Onset... was pretty awesome. I still haven't heard any tracks from Epitaph yet. How would you compare the two?

Got Onset and pretty much like it. Compared to that one, this might not be all that good but I dont think it would be so horrible as some say. I'll get it regardless, at a low price hopefully.

I'll likely buy it soon, even though i've not heard any of it and despite the lukewarm response it has been getting. I'll expect it to not be nearly as good as Onset of Putrefaction so I won't be disappointed, but either way, I love death metal in general far too much to not enjoy it, i'd expect.

It's good, but nowhere near the genius of Onset. They need to get the drum machine back, have less "let's REALLY TRY TO BE TECH ON THIS ONE GUYS!" riffs, and some good old variation.

I think a lot of the dislike towards the album is due to Onset being a superior release. If it were released by a different band I'm sure it'd be getting rave reviews. Needless to say, its a very good album, not amazing but very solid. The solo's are the main attraction for me.

Well...yeah. Obviously.
I know its obvious, but why? Why do people think its "sucks" or whatever when it cleary isn't? It an awesome album thats getting lots of shit because one album doens't live up to another. Typical really...

This is one of the reasons I don't like Epitaph as much....there are too many damn solos and they all start to sound the same by the end....Onset had a handfully or really good ones that stood out from the music more than on Epitaph
