Need another good AC/DC clone?

I don't' know why everyone gives these types of bands so much shit, I love em. Straight ahead rock n roll. AC/DC won't be around forever, enjoy the new heavily influenced guys.

This singer reminds me more of UDO singing over AC/DC though.

I'm also a HUGE fan of Rhino Bucket :kickass:.

I got some early Dirty Looks around here somewhere as well as the new Aussies Airbourne.

From a mainstream perspective, these bands don't last.

When's the last time you heard someone say, "Yeah man!! Throw on some Wolfmother, Jet, Darkness, the Answer, Black Stone Cherry (if that was that band's name), etc, etc."

I like AC/DC, but the clones experience very little staying power.

It's novelty. It's hard rock for the masses, when the masses feel like being edgy!!!!!!! (IE - occasional profanity, provacotive lyrics, etc).

Jet's been around for 9 or so years which is saying a lot for a new rock n roll band. Black Stone Cherry is one of my favorite new ones, nothing cheesy, great tunes and hopefully more albums will follow. I loved the 1st one and the 2nds one topped it. The Darkness was a breath of fresh air, the brothers are still in 2 good rock bands; Hot Leg (still Darkness sound) and the Stone Gods. Wolfmother has the potential to be a big deal.

I listen to Airbourne all the time. And Black Stone Cherry is far from an AC/DC clone band.

I've actually both heard and said that multiple times in the past few weeks. Especially Wolfmother, Darkness and The Answer. It's not hard rock for the masses. It's musicians playing the music they love to listen to.

I wouldn't agree with you exactly. Darkness for sure was a one-trick pony. Jet actually is fairly popular, though not as much as they were. The problem with them is that they went from sounding like AC/DC to sounding like the Beatles. Wolfmother has the potential to be pretty big and I'm a big fan of their stuff, so I wouldn't agree with you on them. You probably are right on The Answer but we'll have to see. I don't know shit about Black Stone Cherry but from what I hear, people seem to like them.

To an extent, I'd agree with you. I think hard rock has went as far as it can go when it comes to being original. With that said, I'd rather a young band imitate AC/DC or early Def Leppard than be another Rage Against The Machine or Nirvana.

I agree that I would rather see young rock bands copy AC/DC than others.
It just seems like it's becoming a trend.

Playing in the mainstream is tricky.
I mean, 4 years ago My Chemical Romance were playing arenas.
Doesn't seem the whole pop-goth, or whatever the hell you wanna call it, is a seller these days.

Hell, I saw an ad for some festival where Good Charlotte is playing mid-card under 4 bands I seriously have never heard of.
