Okay... I need some help here. I use an RME 9632 PCI card. It has an optional balanced XLR breakout cable that you can buy separately, but right now I just have the unbalanced RCA breakout cable (the analog ins and outs use unbalanced RCA jacks) that came with the card.
I unfortunately ordered some RCA to 1/4" cables already, only to see that the Reamp box only accepts a balanced +4 XLR input. How the hell should I hook this up? Should I just spend the $80 and get the balanced XLR breakout cables for the RME 9632 and then just use XLR cables and try to return these unbalanced cables I already bought? Or do I not even need the reamp box since my line outs are -10 unbalanced?
Another question: the RME lets me set the output level in the software at either +4 dBu or -10 dBv... does that mean I can run a +4 dBu signal through the unbalanced cables or is this setting only supposed to be used with the XLR breakout cable?
If anyone can help me out and clear this up for me, please do.
