So, a friend of mine set me on a mission to get a logo designed for his black metal group. It's sort of in the same vein as Drudkh, WitTR, Xasthur, whatever, ambient black metal.
Logos that are the right idea: Xasthur, Emperor, Mayhem, stuff that's symmetrical, evil looking, well-designed, etc.
Logos that aren't the right idea: Winds of Plague, Whitechapel, whatever new bands that just scribble their name across the paper.
Anyway, I'm not necessarily asking for someone to design a logo for my friend, but are there professional graphic designers that do this sort of thing? How do the famous logos get designed?
