Hey,
I just recorded a short clip on my new Adam A3X today.
When i listen to this clip on my A3X it sounds fairly good to me,
but when i listen to it on other devices like my ipod it sounds
horrible.
Please help me to improve my mixes! :)

Guitar : Line6 PodFarm
Bass Guitar : Spectrasonics Trillian
Drums : SSD 3.5 Ex

Sounds too low to me, the kick is inmense , but in a bad way, take a lot of low end out of that, get a stronger bassline, the tone doesn't seem bad, the drums in general are way too loud compared to the other instruments, apart from some eq'ing here and there i would use more compression, and a limiter on top, at least. Nice riff ;)

Thanks for the nice advice guys! :)

I'll take the low-end out of the kick tomorrow.
But I don't really seem to get the guitars less muddy...:(
I tried boosting it around 5k, but it got too fizzy then.

Is there anywhere a nice tutorial how i can archieve a good tone with Trillian?
I'm not really experienced with Bass-tones in general.

Guitars are way too quite. I think if you bump them the whole thing will open up a bit more and then we can go from there.

Okay I brought the guitars up now.
I took the low-end out of the kick.
I changed the bassline.
I made a cut at 300hz where i had a boost before!
I used more compression.

But for some reason it sounds even worse to me than before. :(

i listened to update #2 and it sounds better, but guitars could still come up just a bit, and snare could go down a little (or kick could come up). toms sound very weird imo, almost as if there are no close mic's but only rooms. might be an eq problem or something else entirely, i'm not sure.

i think the last update sounds a lot better, mud sections are around 400hz and 800hz mostly, you can play a bit there, use your ears a lot, i rarely boost guitars, and i'd think twice before boosting 5khz or 6khz, that's the scratchiest area and it's full of noise there, i like more taking out the shit out of the tone instead of boosting... at least that's the way i go, i own Trillian but i find myself using my pitched guitar as a bass most of the time too, it has "that" articulation... and it's a lot easier to just record when you're writing a song! don't think it sounds worse because it just lacks the low end excess, you maybe need to make it sound fuller, warm the low end (even taking more lows out of EVERYTHING, including the whole drumkit piece by piece, everything that is making that area build up) to my ears at least, you made a step forward

Yea I agree that there's something weird going on with the toms.
I'l try to fix this tomorrow. And i also will try to improve the guitars a bit
with EQing.

Here I brought the snare down a bit. And maybe the toms are a
little better already.

Edit: How do i have to pitch my guitar so that it sounds like a bass?
I really wanna try that!
