NEGATIVA MCD out now!

If someone was not intending on being clever or attempting to rhyme(shitty rap artists like this word) that really has nothing to do with anything.

This is SHIT. Utterly irredemable SHIT.

SHIT

When I first heard about this project, I was worried. Creating the concept of the band around creating "Obscura pt. 2" was utterly fucking retarded- the concept WAS the aesthetic. And sure enough, where Obscura was a refined piece of art that happened to use unusual aesthetics, this uses the aesthetics for its own sake. The sublime musicality beneath the technique is gone; we're left a lot of the same old shit, but OMFG, IT'S TAPPED!!111ELEVEN!!! CALL IN THE HIPSTERS- IT'S UNIQUE!!!

A special mention has to go to that breakdown- it's utterly fucking inexcusable, even compared to the rest of the song.

Dear Cynical,

Could you please explain how one goes about demarcating between a refined piece of art that happens to use unusual aesthetics and something which merely uses a particular aesthetic for its own sake. Also, could you please explain how it could be the case that a work of art could merely just happen to use unusual aesthetics.

God bless,
Cyth

Dear Cythraul,
It should be obvious when the "art" that uses the unusual aesthetics happens to be obsessed with tapping out one fucking note repeatedly and includes what would be a normal metalcore breakdown with some pick scrapes thrown in would be a "work" which uses the aesthetic for its own sake that that album is the one that uses the aesthetics simply for the sake of having an unusual aesthetic, while an album which uses said techniques in a context with consideration for such things as melody and not including random fucking segues into unrelated ideas (including, but not limited to, metalcore breakdowns) would be the refined work of art. It should be even more obvious when it is considered that the entire idea behind the project in the former case was to "be weirder than Obscura".

"Happens to" is a careless phrasing on my part; the distinction is that the goal on Obscura wasn't simply to be weird or shocking, whereas the goal with Negativa was stated as such, and the final results show it.

Yours truly,my love; hopefully I'll see you in bed soon. You know what I'll be wearing ;) <3

Dear Cynical,

That's actually quite reasonable. Thanks for the clarification.

Sincerely,
Cyth

I enjoyed the song, it seems a bit premature in some spots, specially the middle, but I don't think it's Shit at all.

So far this sounds somewhere inbetween Obscura and From Wisdom to Hate. It's not as good as Obscura. Maybe the rest of the songs will prove this wrong.
