...not as a whole but anyway (it's growing on me really the more i listen to it), i respect that this was the album you wanted to do and you did it. I guess you really wanted to make something different due to your name/label change and that you want to achieve different public.
...Greg, where are the solos you told us that we will like? I could only listen to one in Wayfarer and it's not that amazing thing.
...I can't understand why many people here say that Opeth works like pasting and gluing riffs together. Listening to Choirs you can easily notice the same work...see how many times there are those heavy parts that fade out followed by acoustics...you know...puzzle songs...i don't want to restart that Opeth thing, but so far i can't understand your position.
...Toby, i'm really impressed by your vocals....they changed a lot...did you take lessons you worked hard on it to let them sound this way? i'm talking about the clean vocals of course...but your growls, hum, better, your screams are very good...they are so schizophrenic...not to mention the sex phone voice at the end of Marathon.
...Maybe it's just me but some violins and clarinetes were to unnecessary to many parts...they sound really too pedant yes...
...I thought that this would be a 6-tracks album. What happened to Azure-Lidded World? I know its lyrics are at the end of Marathon, but did you word on its instrumental?
...The riffs are very good (They kind of still remind me of old My Dying Bride...as the Flowers Withers era)...sad that they're so few and short (maybe the album could be better-for me- with more of them or at least with longer ones...the way the album is, it's almost an atmospheric album), except for The Antique...
that's it...i know you don't give a fuck about what Ecto says...
nice to be here with you again guys...thanks for the new album, it's good anyway. good luck in the future!
with love,
Ecto.
