Never cried over a news article before

Didn't cry, I'm such a badass metal br00tal dude!

No but seriously, it is really really sad though. Guess none of us can even imagine how it must've been until we feel it ourselves... god/spaghetti monster forbid.

im kind of trying to find words to explain what reading that done to me
but im failing pretty badly :|

poor kid
but the fact that she stayed alive just long enough to watch the film is heart warming as fuck
the power of the human spirit is an incredible thing eh?

That was nice to read in a way, and heartbreaking in another.

I saw that movie with my daughter last weekend, and it was pretty special.

i couldnt imagine what that kids mum must have been going through
the thought of it alone makes me well up a little bit :s jeez

None of you believe Pixar knew how big of positive effect this type of PR would have on their company? :)

Kids die in diseases all the time, I wonder if they would do this everytime someone called them and asked.

Time to go make a list of what I want from all the companies in the world as I'm dying!

I doubt they would ever feel they would need it. Everything I've seen or read about the inner workings of that company make it seem like people who just love what they do, take pride in it, and treat people like family in the process, and who just happen to spin that all into gold while making it seem effortless.

Pixar officials declined to comment on the story or name the employees involved.

Class.

At about 12:30 p.m. the Pixar employee came to the Curtins’ home with the DVD. He had a bag of stuffed animals of characters in the movie and a movie poster.

That part made me feel the worst -- sad for the kid AND sad for the Pixar employee. He probably didn't have a full grasp on how far gone she was, and went in thinking the toys would... I dunno, I can't finish this thought. :(

Despite this being a touching, heartbreaking story where one naturally admires the victim of the disease and those who have gone out of their way to help; I'd like to ask, do these things become publicized for a reason? Let's be honest here, do you think Pixar had even the slightest of motives to commercialise their goodness to the public? How would something like this leak to the news?

The fact that Pixar didn't comment on the employees proves to me that Pixar didn't have commercialism in mind. But still, how would this become widespread news?

Personally, I think it would have been more special if it was hushed up and more of a personal thing.

Nonetheless, an admirable gesture by Pixar and a depressing misfortune to a brave girl and her family.
