They're called SOUTHERN CROSS and are from Quebec, Canada. They just released their new CD, "Down Below", and they opened for Primal Fear yesterday in Montreal. I heard their 1st album from 2006 ("Rise Above") and wasn't impressed at all. The songs didn't grab me and you could hear it was a low-budget product. But after seeing them live yesterday, where most of the songs were from the new disc, I bought that new CD. This is still a self-produced disc, but the production is excellent, as is the packaging of the CD. Very professional-looking. What a progression over the 1st album. The style is melodic power/progressive metal and it's really well done. I have to say that they remind me a bit of the band SERENITY at times.
