kinda been away from here a while, thought i'd share my newest toy tho...i figured it was time i invest in some decent bass gear

got the sr505 off ebay for $190, best bass for the money i've ever played!!!

picked up the big block and ampeg cab together for $1000 locally, and i absolutely love it...the big block sounds fantastic, and this is certainly the best sounding ampeg cab i've ever used

Pretty cool dude, those are some monster ports at the bottom of the cab - but I'm more interested in what looks to be an Engl Blackmore in the second pic! :D

Nice! PR-410HFL - those are some seriously nice cabs. I almost went with those when I bought my SVT4Pro & 8x10. How's the Big Block, or more specifically what's the overdrive like on it?

I wanted a 400+, but they have since been discontinued and I haven't had a chance to play the new amps to see what has the best grind.

i actually sold the blackmore to fund this :(

it was a great amp, that i would loved to have kept around...but for recording use my vht and mark III are absolute keepers, the ampeg isn't worth enough to sell, and my cobra is much better for live use than the engl

here's a nice shot before i sent it packing tho...

the big block is awesome...it's aggressive sounding without having too much going on in the mids or high end, the active mid + frequency controls work together very nicely...so i can use them to dial in some extra upper mids, similar to what i could on the ampeg v4b i owned briefly

the overdrive channel is way too much for me, but you can get a nice grind outta the normal channel with the gain around 1:30-2:00 which sounds very early tool esque to my ears

Congrats man, I got the SR505 as well last year and am totally happy with it!
Joined a band on bass a few months ago and everyone is loving the bass sound, no matter what amp I play through. It's awesome and a joy to play!
