New bass time is coming up

The time is drawing near for me to get a new bass, so help me out with suggestions and shit.
I'm thinking Epiphone Explorer or Flying V or maybe a Destroyer if I can get my hands on one... I want something good, not too pricey, kickass, metal as fvk and reliable. Tell me what, where and how much please.

if you're set on gibson, get like an old thunderbird or grabber/ripper. i would recommend finding an older gibson as opposed to a newer epiphone for a similar price, simply because gibson >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> epiphone.

oh yeah and i have to fully stand behind music man basses because they are my favorite. not sure if that's a tone you're after but the feel is superb and they are very reliable. sterlings, stingrays, and sabres are like the coolest basses in history maaaaaaaaaaaaaaan......

i'm on the lookout for a good jazz bass. i want a fretted maple fingerboard though, so i get that harsh geddy tone. i found a '78 jazz that was PERFECCT HOM OODHT FUCKING SGOD SO OPERPEVECT but it was $2800.

jaco used a homemade epoxy coated rosewood fingerboard, totally different tone. either way, a fretless music man is way cooler so that's what i'm getting. :Spin:

yep. don't even like rush all that much, but geddy is the fucking man and his tone is awesome. although i fell in love with maple jazz basses before i knew much about him. :Spin:

probably going to pick up one of these warwick corvette fretless basses eventually because they go for cheap on ebay and are perfectly cool shitz for $500. oddly enough they play infinitely better than their $2000 older brother, the thumb.

A Rickenbacker would seriously rule BUT I have never ever seen one for less than far too much, if you find one, SHOW. And where can I find a GOOD Gibson explorer at a good price? I don't want any bullshit, a bass that works WELL, which is why I'm very tempted to go straight for a new one

honestly man, unless you want to shell out the cash used is the way to go. unless an instrument was seriously abused chances are it'll be fine for many years, my friend's 20 year old sabre plays as well as my newish sterling. vintage type shit can go for high dollar, but at the same time you can get some absolutely killer deals.

oh yeah i've heard good things about SX basses for cheap, but i've never played one.

OIM and Erik: How did you do that shit with the koolstuf-shipping? OIM got the bass mand sent it overseas, right? How much was it? Was it really really hard and annoying work?

slike, if i remember right i don't think he ended up saving any cash on the deal. shitz cost $60 on my end to ship and was no hassle, but there are size restrictions on what you can send. the box was something like 2 inches shy of the limit so it was barely okay.

Yeah I think I might want that actually, talked to Tully about it but that might be more of a hasslee with getting the money to him and whatnot, plus you've done it before.. The dude said he'd gladly ship it to someone in the US (ie you I guess) and then you ship it here... I guess the explorer will be over that limit though but still a great deal on my end so I think I'm gonna go for it... Thanks a lot.
