New BLS!!!!

The Song kicks ass! I like it hell alot more than the last albums!

And I like his voice. Its more like 90th alternative stuff (alice in chains comes to my mind) instead of the all the same sounding core-singer this days.

I know it's total blasphemy to say this, but BLS just does not do it for me at all. Every record I'm hoping it's gonna change and I'm going to love it....but it just never happens. The production is way better then most his albums though (still not amazing though).

+1, and I'll throw Lamb of God in there with that statement. Where's the growth? With all of that talent and new life experiences let's hear it in the muzakk.

I will say that as a musician he is exceptional. Randy R may have turned my attention to guitar, but Zakk made me want to play.

chugg chugg chugg WOOOOOOOOp chug chug chug HEEEEYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA Chug chug Chugga WOOOOOOOO chug chug
yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehhhhhhhhhhhhAAH = Every BLS song

;)

I guess his new studio helped him a lot on concentrating on doing great music ;)
You know staying at your place, no hurries and other shit can help you with some great tunes ;)

Probably that, and sobering up, his father dying, the blood clots and getting kicked from Ozzy(All in a relatively short timespan.).
I think he really felt that he had to prove to him self that he still have it in him, and as you said, now he has the possibilities to do so.

Cant wait for this album!

Some of the Best BLS since 1919...still wish he'd do some Pride and Glory tho!

Is it just me or did BLS lose the massive riffage over the years?? Stuff like Suffering Overdue/Genocide junkies/13 years/ Counterfeit god are super-riffy compared with the newer stuff

Never was a huge fan of Zakk or BLS, but if there's one thing I really dislike it is the sheer amount of pentatonic twiddlers he has encouraged.
THERES ANOTHER 7 NOTES ON THAT DAMN GUITAR!

Im more annoyed by the modern day guitarists that think that playing clean makes a song good(No offense to anyone, but that sums up half of this forum.).

To be fair there are just as many harmonic minor abusers thanks to people like Yngwie Malmsteen.

The pentatonic, for me, is pretty much the epitome of rock and roll soloing, theres a lot you can do with it and it does have a real classic vibe to it when used right. I'd rather hear a raunchy, over the top pentatonic based solo with loads of bending and wailing than someone like Gus G running off a scale exercise.

would rather listen to Zakks soulful "fired up" pentatonic leads than most of todays lame "licks players". Half of todays metal soloists sound like they learned every lick off a generic shred dvd and put no feel or personality into it at all..lame

plus when Zakk hits the speed runs in that solo he switches to diatonic patterns anyways!

Zakks voice on the breakdown before the solo is FIERCE!

Pentatonics. Simply the most universally easy-to-incorporate scale EVER.

True that, that most of these kids overuse and abuse the piss out of it, but to be completely honest.. I'd rather hear a good rocky/soulful pentatonic run, than some mindbending harmonic minor neoclassical stuff ANY day. So does the rest of the world. (inb4 Oh but Shreddy, you do Harmonic Minor/Phrygian alot! I understand this, I had my Harmonic Minor learning phase, and mastered it as far as I wanted to take it, anyways.)

On another note, I'm seriously digging the HELL out of this new BLS song, Zakk remains the man. :kickass::kickass::kickass:

Not sure why I'm compelled to weigh in on this, but...the scale you're playing in doesn't automatically determine whether your playing has "soul" or not. Yes, a lot of these super-technical players have no emotion in their stuff, and that sucks. But playing the same pentatonic stuff for 15 years straight also lacks emotion, and also sucks.

That said...the new BLS kinda sounds like "Miracle Man", which is definitely a step in the right direction.

Never said the scale determined anything, I said if used right I'd rather hear it used well than hear another neoclassical run and definitely never mentioned "soul", whatever the rather personal or arbitrary definition of that is. Also I don't think using two less notes than on a diatonic pattern makes, even on the course of however long, the playing any less inspired.

That's just the way Zakk likes to play it and what some of us would call a style :)
