I donwloaded a few of the new chimaira songs out of morbid curiosity and was impressed enough to go out and buy the album. Now I know their last few albums have sucked horse cock and they're on roadrunner, but I can't help but be impressed with these dudes. The whole album is just a big fat chunky riff-fest. And it works. I'm not a huge fan of the vocals but I'm lovin the riffs and the drumming (new drummer). Plus the last song is a 10-minute long instrumental in the vein of Orion and Call of Cthulu. I wasn't expecting to be but I'm rather impressed by this album. They have completely changed (heaps for the better) from their last few outings and I reckon people should check this shit out. It's a different band these days.

yeah the new Chimaira kicks a lot of ass, i am going to buy it once i get payed, there are some crazy guitar solos and drumming.... and as for CC, yeh its ok.... its rather repetitive though, and i think my dog could write better lyrics

i saw them live.........a couple decent sounds here and there

not good enough to be mentioned on this message board

i dont know why you people bother with this band when there are like 200 better ones out there

are you going off their old stuff? Because I would be inclined to agree but they've made huge leaps forward with their new album. To me it sounds like a mix of SLayer, Pantera and Skinlab sorta. Granted, some of the lyrics are stupid and his voice gets annoying but the music kicks its fair share of arse. Don't write these guys off becasue of their "nu" tag, if you actually listened to the new music instead of prejudging them I think you'll be surprised. I can't get over the last instrumental song, it's blowing me away. I really can't believe it's the same band that released those other albums.

Yes, there almost as good as the new Inflames, thats saying alot isnt it. Ive heard half the new chimera CD, im not impressed. id say raise the count to 20,000 better bands.

when i said almost as good, i meant their live performance..... and as far as recording, no they are not as good as old in flames, but thats really hard to do. they are still pretty good.

I think Chimaira is very much the new Pantera....a huge leap from their previous efforts, and much agreed about the drummer - he is the highlight of this new CD. Anybody here going to see them July 16 in San Diego? They added that date on their own before their opening slot in L.A. with In Flames....I'm gonna go to both.
