xmidihcx - Call bullshit if you like, but that card is boring for me regarding this clip. Anyone has used DFHS knows the sounds, it's genuine DFHS. Programmed by hand using a mouse. Like I said, I have a ton of drummer friends that I have shown that clip to that still call me a liar to this very day because I told them it was a program, and not a real drummer. Mostly they were just pissed because they see their importance fading, lol. If you have an e-kit, you can do this same exact stuff, just go from MIDI out from your e-kit's module, and MIDI into your PC and route it to the MIDI track in your host program, output to DFHS. Easy. I've done it at home for a ton of band demos, and even had triggers on real kits for snare, kick, and toms at the studio here, and ran those through DFHS while mic'ing the real cymbals and hi-hats of the kit in the room. It sounds just like that clip, all of the nuances (little ghost notes, velocity changes, etc.) come through perfectly. Basically it's an elaborate-as-shit rendition of Drumagog at that point though.
I don't see what your worries are with getting an e-kit and DFHS, you'll be extremely happy. You could always also just get a full set of the *NICE* DDrum triggers (not the cheapies), and a low-cost drum module for the MIDI output and DFHS and just mic actual cymbals if you don't want to spend all that money on a kit. I mean, mic'ing cymbals and hi-hats isn't nearly as complicated as drums as far as getting a good sound is concerned. Just my take though.
