if you go to a show and plan on moshing the whole time, die. also, there should be country-wide rules on moshing. if you break it, you get the firing squad. good riddance. anyone under the age of 20 that doesn't look like he's paying attention to the music is cast out to the back to sit in a corner by himself. one move and a big black security guy shoots them in the head. if you're wearing a wifebeater while moshing, or are shirtless, a really fat ugly chick will cut your nipples off and have her way with you. if your bangs come down to your eyebrows and are parted, your head gets chopped off. if you're under 18 and have trendy "shaggy" hair, same thing. talk about aggression. i can't go to a show and enjoy my favorite bands anymore without putting up with these fucking idiots. jesus christ, is there anything more annoying for a true music fan? you go see one of your favorite bands that you've been following for years, and you see an endless sea of fucktards that are oblivious to anything dealing with music. that's new england gaycore fest in a nutshell. more evidence on why progpower is so great. these kinds of idiots can't afford to go, they don't like/know the bands, and the event is sold out before they even get a chance to look it over. at least 3 days out of the year, we DON'T have to deal with this shit

You know, a good question was brought up in this thread which I will address, because I know everyone gives a crap about my opinion. That question being "whats the problem people have against hardcore/metalcore"?

You know I thought about this for a while. When something bothers me about a certain type of music, I do like to figure out what exactly that is. So, while watching Headbangers Ball one night with a friend of mine, it dawned on me...the sheer pig headed arrogance that these bands exude in both the music and image disgusts me. The whole genre just reeks of "look at me, look at how mean and badass I am, look at how tough I am" especially the whiny yelping the vocalists try to pass off as screaming. These guys need to take a lesson from guys like Peter Tagtgren and Mikael Akerfeldt when it comes to growling. Truly badass metal does not need to try so hard to be badass...the music speaks for itself. Bands like Kreator, Rage, Hypocrisy, Grave Digger, Destruction, etc. don't need to layer on angst ridden bullshit to sound heavy, and the band members don't need to act like they're the baddest motherfucker around to be legit.

Simply put, metalcore is music for 14 year olds who just got their first pubes in and think they're badass because they just bought a new spiked bracelet from Hot Topic (payed for with mommy's money of course), which their highschool banned, so that makes them rebellious and evil. Maybe when their testicles descend they'll realize how stupid angst ridden posturing is...or not.

As far as moshing goes, metal-style moshing is cool, and if I were on stage I'd get a kick out of people moshing to my stuff. The difference between metal style moshing and hardcore style is that metal moshpits have a sense of camradery to them. When I saw Kreator at BB Kings, I was standing towards the back so I had a nice view of the crowd as well as the stage. I noticed a group of guys who were moshing and get this: they were smiling and having a good time. This was no bunch of morons who just wanted to hurt people. If someone fell down, they helped them up. If someone didn't want to be in the pit, they let them out and didn't knock into them. As far as the hardcore style...release of aggression my ass. As far as I'm concerned there is no difference between spin kicking someone to the face in a pit and spin kicking someone to the face in a shopping mall. These are people who are just looking to hurt others and I love seeing them get a beating by the metalheads standing around them who get tired of their bullshit when they try to show up at a metal show.

1000% agreed! Excellent way to put that out. Though there is 2 or 3 good metalcore bands... But the whole "attitude" means shit to me!

Personally, I don't have a problem with it at certain types of show (mallcore, thrash, etc) even though I would not participate. I understand where LocalX is coming from. However, this isn't that type of show. Plus, moshing could end up in a legal mess if someone was seriously injured. I would get sued and the fest is forever canceled. I'm not willing to take that risk for the benefit of an agression release. I say grab a bottle of lotion and a good porn mag before you go to the show to get it out of the way.

Personally, I don't have a problem with it at certain types of show (mallcore, thrash, etc) even though I would not participate. I understand where LocalX is coming from. However, this isn't that type of show. Plus, moshing could end up in a legal mess if someone was seriously injured. I would get sued and the fest is forever canceled. I'm not willing to take that risk for the benefit of an agression release. I say grab a bottle of lotion and a good porn mag before you go to the show to get it out of the way.
