New Flatline website finally!

Ha, wow that's a huge screen! Is the background after that black at least? I'll check. Thanks for checking it oot.

edit: looks like it should be. I can live with it.

27" iMac. Once I'm the Governor of the Universe, using anything smaller will result in capital punishment by a horde of slapping cocks.

But yeah, the bg is black so it doesn't bother :)

Awesome, thanks man! Check out the Vale of Pnath track and the No Fair Fights stuff for sure. Really stoked on both of those.

They're all great and the Cephalic track is pure eargasm. I hate abstract terms but I'd say all your mixes have those awesome creamy mids, they are so clean and seem free of the nasty resonances and standing waves that could drive a man insane while mixing. But anyway this thread is for the site, sorry for the OT ;)

Nah dude, it's ALWAYS about the music. The site's just a pretty picture :)

I tend to be really sensitive those those harsh resonance frequencies you're talking about and try and clean them up with some tight cuts. It can be really easy to over do and I have actually been trying to tone that back a bit, but sometimes it's just necessary.

Exactly! It's not impossible to do but if we're talking about guitars you can lose your mind trying to fix them if they are not as close to perfect as possible without processing. Once you do "fix" them you realise there's nothing left of the tone you went for and it starts all over. Your guitars are always so clean while still having a great tone...do you process them a ton or just 5-6 narrow cuts + hi/lo pass?

Really just depends. Some tones might have 4 or 5 EQ bands working and other might have 30 or 40+, no kidding. Even using the same amps and cabs most of the time, guitars get treated different depending on the player / guitar and the other mix elements.

Great site. I really dig how you implemented the media player there :) Might "borrow" the design idea haha.
But i would like to see more pics of the studio. If you have Barefoots you should put a pick on them and your desk at the front
of your site :)

Good luck to ya!!!

Dave, you've consistently been one of my favorite AE's on here, even if I don't listen to a lot of the styles you work within. I'd love to work with someone like yourself someday. Great work and a nice site!

Thanks man! I really appreciate it! Your band sounds sweet and the mix sounds good on this shitty old laptop.

Cheers man! I really need to get some good pictures of my place and I'll update the slideshow. Those are just what I happen to have on hand and I tossed them in to get the site up and running. That's not even my studio, they're pictures from the Cephalic Xenosapian drum tracking sessions at their warehouse a few years ago

I really like the player being up front too. That was one of my main points to Justin, the site's designer. I don't understand why some studios / mixers hide the fucking end product on the last page behind 3 or 4 clicks. I wanted the focus to be on the music more than anything else.

I imagine it's because, unlike yours, their end product sucks and they are desperately trying to lure clients by other means such as pretty pictures and lots of Neumanns and racks of gear :D

And on a related note, I specifically made my studio's site so that switching between pages doesn't stop (and reload) the player.
