New Fleshgod apocalypse song

I mean that in the video you see the guys that start fighting with apparently no reason. In the original video (before they cutted the 80% of the acted sequences) you understand everything because the story was explained or better, there was a story. Actually there are only 5 guys that start fighting

Upon further listens to other songs I still dig the band. No other fucks will be giving about other opinions :D

It's forgettable, what does this excel at? really?

It's like death metal's Hollywood, yeah it's pretty slick, and even entertaining, but at the end of the day it offers no emotional/intellectual nourishment at all.
I think Dimmu do it better.......

Apart from the drumming this isn't really brutal at all either imo... and even then, the drumming is brutal at the cost of being interesting.

^ well, its all a bit subjective really and 99.9% a matter of personal taste

I'd be hard put to say most death metal bands, even the very few I like, excel at much of anything except being fast and/or heavy and brutal sounding

I mean aside from a couple notable bands death metal as a whole never provided me with much intellectual / emotional nourishment ... at least, not any more than this song

When I say "notable", I mean bands that struck a chord with me on some level and even then sometimes it might only be a song or two

Not a fan of Grave but goddamn if "Soulless" isn't one of the greatest DM songs of all time to me

but hey, again, its all a matter of taste.

I think you mean offers no emotional/intellectual nourishment to you. Which is cool if it doesn't. I enjoy it and more than likely have very, very different opinions on music, but such is the way of the world. :)

+1 as well

Still haven't got past the "brutality boundary" I see....

Obviously this is subjective.
This statement is a bit hypocritical in retrospect, but think of it like the Transformers films.
Massive explosions and Megan fox are awesome, but it's not exactly the height of film-making...

the bass player singing sounds like he's trying too hard to sound like Vintersorg from Borknagar. Or Dimmu Borgir/Borknagar's ICS Vortex. Except this guy's voice is cracking and needs tuning. lol.

I should also fess up in that I do have eclectic tastes in DM in that there's really no reason why I SHOULDN'T like a band I do just as there's no more a reason for me to like the ones I do ... basically, don't try and find any pattern ;)

One of my all time favorite bands is Edge Of Sanity. I fucking LOVE that band with a passion ... mostly the "Unorthodox" - "Infernal" era but if you ask my why .... I dunno.

Great sense of melody? Yes
Catchy & sexy riffs? Yes
"Brutal"? Yes
Dark / evil / atmospheric? Yes

How many other DM have all those hallmarks? I'd say a lot of them

Chances are, I'd dislike most of them too

I love Fleshgod as well, and cant wait to see them at Summer Slaughter, but dammit those clean vocals are making me cringe! He's like almost there, almost hitting it, but can't quite reach it, Ahhhhh!

Yea that might be true, guess we'll just have to wait and see. Almost time for Summer Slaughter! :headbang:

I've never understood why they hold these concerts outside during the summer here in AZ. I think they'd sell a lot more tickets to summer events at places like the dodge theater or the suns stadium or chase field. Sooooooo damn hot :hotjump:
