besides, I just checked and found out all of my favorite ps2 and ps1 games are completely backward compatible with ps3 so really there is no reason to NOT get one now

Yeah that's true , but only with certain models. I have an 80 gig model that I upgraded the hard drive , to 400 GB. That model is backwards compatible. Supposedly soon they will come out with a patch for all models to play them though.

Haha yeah that's the same thing I ordered. Got it for $15 with amazon trade ins , got GOW collection for free !
Just wanted to let you know that the US version DOES NOT come with the GOW Collection ( 1 and 2 Remaster ) the UK Version ( more expensive ) does. It's called GOW Ultimate Trilogy Edition

Yeah I saw that ... just got myself the 60gb model which is backwards compatible. I don't need too much space anyway and besides, if I'm understanding you correctly, I can upgrade the hard drive to something larger and still know I can play my Hogs of War game

Yep you can upgrade all of the models , which is great. Once you start downloading full games and movies from the Playstation Store ( I have over 100 games and a lot of movies and PSP games) you will need that space. Just to give you a heads up though , beware the blue screw when you are taking out the old drive . It strips so easily , I think they made the damn think out of play dough

Is this something you can just do on your own, swap the HD out?

Like I said just be REALLY careful taking out those screws , if they strip you will NOT be able to get the drive out
