New Immortal

i think i'm the only one who hated it then ? i started getting disappointed when Damned in Black came out, i think both are rather weak plus P. Tagtgren's influence is really notorius, unless it's just me who thinks that... :err:

i'm also disappointed of Impaled Nazarene's latest two albums, 'Absence of war does not mean peace' is absolutely horrible and boring

Right, the new Immortal is awesome!
I haven't been a big Immortal fan, but NOW i am starting to explore and
like them! First i downloaded "One By One" and damn, that song blew me away!
After that i decided to buy the album!

Since i am quite a new Immortal fan, can someone recommend
some older work? Something that's a bit similar to this new one?
Thanks!

If you're looking for similar material to 'SOND', I'd suggest going backwards through the Immortal catalogue. 'Damned In Black' is one you'll deffinately like. 'At The Heart Of Winter' is a bit more complex and drawn-out but was the real turning point for the band.

Everything before that is very in-your-face Black Metal and, usually, has the general Black Metal production standard,(in other words; practically zero). Then again, especially in Immortal's case, that's what makes it so great. Songs from this era deffinatelty worth a listen are "Blashyrkh(Mighty Ravendark)", "Nebular Ravens Winter", and "The Sun No Longer Rises".

Immortal's production standards: Kill all bass, boost all highs...

"If it don't hurt to listen to, then it AIN'T black-metal!"

The only Immortal that i have heard is the song with the clip, where it is all frozen and they are in the snow and stuff. Cliched as hell, Black-Metal as hell. RAAAAAASSSSSPPY vox...

Thanks for the info!
I forgot to say i already have "At The Heart..." and "Damned..."! hehe
"Damned..." is not good at all, in my opinion!

But i'll check the songs you told me about (except "Blashyrkh", already heard that one) ;)
