2 of you have already heard this, but now I've got permission to post it here ;)

it's not that I'm absolutely unsatisfied, it's just that I'm not really happy cause there's something in the mids that's still bothering me (like a huge mid-bobble or so ;) )....

anyway, this mix has to be really good cause (apart from that it's my 2nd band) Incubator has sold almost 40.000 copies in the 90ies and those records had been produced by Andy Classen...
so as you probably can understand
with this recording (although it's just a demo) I can't settle for anything mediocre

here's song#1: (more to follow)

Sieg Für Nichts

please tell me what you think.

thanks

Uhm...guitars seem too middy and muddy...and lack attack.
Have you tried with more trebbles?

you're right...the main problem I have is that the drummer played cymbals all the fucking time instead of hitting when needed, so there's pretty much a treble-floor over the entire song that interefered with treble in the gutars when put in....

but I'll check again later with fresh ears, thanks dude

Try also different mix for the 2 amps..I mean raise 5150 and lower Mesa (or viceversa)...but I think you've already try this solution :)

yep..didn't help...I just did a slightly different mix with way less (too quiet ;) ) Overheads, thatlet the guitars have more attack....will be uploading that in 20 mins (bouncing atm).

I think it's the playing, the guitars sound fine, probably to much gain.....

no, I guess it's more likely that stupid EMG 89....supposed to sound like an 85 but lacks output and dynamics....
I thiink the playing on the guitars isn't the major problem either, but perhaps the bass.....

anyway, just did some minor changes and think it won't get any better, so we prolly have to live with this.....

you bastards, when I started mixing I really liked the guitarsound....now Im not sure at all anymore ;)

As i told you from your early mixes bro, i love the production but that fucking vocal! Argh! hahahaha

Hehe, here some quotes from gearslutz:

lasse,
good to have you here! saw on your site that you will do incubator. is that he band that did 'mcgillroy the housefly' back in 92/93?!

that album is out there. easily one of my all time faves. never heard anything like it. king crimson meets morbid angel and some hendrix dropped in the mix too. the singer is easily the greatest talent death metal ever saw!

must have listened to it a million times. still surprises me every time. would love a decent re-master of it! andy classen did a great job back then but it certainly shows age sound-wise.

lost track of the band in the nineties. supposedly some nasty stuff going on about naming rights etc. but glad to see them back.

can you give some infos on them and their new project!?

lasse,
thx for the update. those are great news. can't wait to hear the new stuff. don't know marcel. he wasn't on the two albums (vinyl!) I have. but that chris guy is just amazing. what a voice. listening to him should be obligatory for all the metal kids out there.

also songwriting and guitarwork was top notch. really undervalued classics imho.

to bad they fell apart. they could have become the german answer to neurosis.

ok back to work.

Lol...gotta admit he sang differently back then ;)

here's a video from the most recent gig (old song and old singingstyle tho)
