So it's good then is it?

It's fucking excellent.

Better than Serenity in Fire, not quite as good as Shadows & Dust. It's Kataklysm, but drummer extraordinaire Max Duhamel is back in the band, so it seems more, inpsired, for lack of a better word.

I'll be buying it shortly after it comes out, yep, I will.

Kataklysm is a great "get drunk and headbang" band. But for anything other than that, they are good, but not great. Oh well, every once in a while i just like listening to that man-beast drummer of theirs... and then I go "oh yeah" and go listen to some Absu.

I like Kataklysm, they were the first death metal band I ever listened to. I thought nothing could be more insane. Obviously, I was wrong, but they're still decent to listen to every now and then and Shadows and Dust is a fun album. I didn't pick up their last one because Max had left and I figured it would probably be gay, but I'll pick up the new one for sure.

The thing about Kataklysm for ME has always been their ability to effortlessly blend melody into their brutal death metal, without making any concessions to that aggression. And Maurizio, apart from being a great fucking guy, is the best death metal vocalist on earth right now, or at least damned close to it. His diction and delivery are 2nd-to-none. I don't have the lyrics or anything yet, but I understood every single word he barked with perfect clarity.

I guess I have a slight soft spot for Kataklysm because they were the first metal band I ever saw in concert. Not bad stuff I suppose. Sometimes horribly cheesy though.
