VERY impressive. The Reticent's prior album (Amor Mortem Mei Erit) was one of my top 10 releases of 2008 (I'm pretty sure it was '08) with it's melancholy Opeth: Damnation meets Anathema sound. These clips have a more "plugged in" sound, but the band still sounds incredible. I could see this appealing to fans of Katatonia on one end and Porcupine Tree/Riverside/Jolly on the other.
I have ny theories why it was overlooked but I'll keep that to myself. On my part it was the first release so I had no idea what I was doing and the cover art was extremely misleading (not my idea there). But the few review it got were great, people seemed blown away by it. Though it went unnoticed because not only did I not know where to take it but people I guess were afraid to give it a try or whatever. I mention I think it sounds like Nick Cave and that scares of those who don't know who Cave is. What is unfortune is that there is no doubt The Reticent could grab fans of Opeth, Riverside, Porcupine Tree, etc it's just getting those people to try it. But in due time; like with everything else the right person says he likes it and the rest will fall in line.
The albums are in my store and they can also be found at Century Media, The End, etc.
There is actually one beofre the release we put out.
The new material is so damn good. It is a little different now (well I guess you can hear some of it above).
