New Metallica Song

I don't understand how a group of guys that have been playing instruments for what 20+ and have been playing together for most of there lives can write music so awful. They really sound like a bunch of 12 year olds kids rehearsing.

well maybe it is because they dont' devote their entire lives to writing songs and playing their instruments. maybe it is because they have families, recreational lives, touring, and other things that take up their time. besides, they are freaking famous as hell, why do they NEED to become better musicians? they can play what they wanna write. people like chris brodowick whose life is music and strives to become better and metallica are completely different. metallica are major label artists, they do it for the fame and money and playing in front of people, not cause music satisfies them and is part of their life.

When you play shows from 82 heavily into 1990 you should be competant enough musicians to be able to make good music for the following years and not sound like 12 year old kids.

I don't care what priorities you have or what reasons are behind why you play music.

Metallica is just beyond embarassing and they will sell a lot of new albums simply because of a legacy. Same with slayer.

I'm officially disbanding my slayer and metallica shirts and possibly retiring the bands back catalog after 6.6.06.

And that is why real metalheads wont buy into their shit. Nobody likes giving greedy people their hard earned cash.

now lets be fair here... the guy is nearly fifty years old, the vocalchords loosen naturally... and besides he has had a serious alcohol problem that must have been the major negative effect of his voice... and for the new song + st. anger...i dont think those albums are all that serious, more like built up through a couple hours of rocking out at the rehearsals, and media probably had a large effect on their musical vision.

Theblack album IS and will always be my favourite metallica album, i dont care what anyone says...it still does it´s magic at times when i listen to it maybe once a year, partly for nostalgy reasons... but mostly because that album is awesome, and james vocals were at the top at that time... although load and reload was not great albums his voice is still great on those... on the S&M you start hearing the alcohol and age... anyway respect for the band that got me into rockmusic as a 7 year old

He's not THAT old! He's just lost it, they all have. They used to be on top of the world, and were SO good anyone (even when they deny it) who has EVER been into metal, always just holds out a hope that they will release something as good as the old.

I don't expect a band to sound like they're still from 83 or 90, but christ this sucks. When I hear shit like this I forget that musical taste is subjective because I have never heard something that sucks so much right now. Anyone who buys the new metallica is an idiot.

I have seen nevermore and It just sounded like warrel yelling. maybe it was an off night.

This clip is exactly why I don't listen to anything from Metallica after Justice.

Metallica, I just want to say: "I'm madly in anger with you. I'm madly in anger with you. Get yourself a fucking clue and some music lessons too! Ooohh. Yeahhhh!"

anyone who can sing can tell that jameses vocal range was pretty large... the first four albums are way up there, and on the black album he has lower vocals, WD sings alot with overtones, they are not so difficult to master as you would think... jameses voice has gotten lower and lower through the years, nowmore they have to downtune their old songs so that he can manage to sing them.
Jeff buckley sings 3½ oktavs without falset... and type o negative singer does nearly 4 oktavs

man, al lthe cd/vinyls by metallica sux, except the first... bloody hell crimson glory and overkill are so much better and better....
listen again, kids
they don't or never created ground breaking new material

type o's singer does 4 octaves? i'd never think that. james does have SOME range. WD has 5 octaves, he told me personally at the jaxx show. does that include falsetto or not? not sure. 4 octaves is the range of a guitar. i don't think type o can do all that based on what i've heard. but i also think he doesn't show enough of his range to truely tell.

james can't sing as well as he used to. what used to be part of his normal range is now becomming passaggio, or notes in between vocal registers. this causes his voice to crack live and go off key/pitch. all in all it is obvious he needs to continue to practice his vocal skills. the band has been focusing all their energy to get tight, good thing they are since they WEREN'T for a while. along with a good live show (i'm sure). he needs to get a good vocal coach, take care of his chords and learn to sing again.

if not the band and him are going to shit.
