New Metallica Song

5 oktaves without falsetto is impossible believe me... but 5 oktaves even with is pretty impressive too, to have a large falsetto range is also a talent... i´m guessin almost 3 oktaves and 2 oktaves falsetto on warrel...
you can simply listen to the "life is killing me" and the songs "IYDKMIGTHTKY (GIMME THAT)", "NETTIE" and "ANESTHESIA" to get a picture of his vocal range...it is simply amazing, he is singing to low bass tones at times...and on anesthesia he sings high as hell without falsetto, it does not sound as high as it really is since his original voice is so extremely low but try singing along on the same oktav.

intelligent post :P... when are people going to learn that music is not a competition, it is subjective in every way what so ever.

You know it's funny really how harsh everyone is on metallica. I think part of it is that we hold them in such high reguard. So they stop playing metal in the mid 90s and starts saying that Load and Reload sucks ... wich is completely biased and most probably came to that conclusion without really listening to them. Sure it's not metal, but I believe the loads contain some great songwriting. When they released St Anger they got so much shit. I can't defend them on that piece of shit though. So now their job is to pick up the pieces and all I hear is bitching yet again. I read in an interview with lars that they weren't sure if they'd play any songs live because they weren't done and james hadn't even started writing lyrics for them. So it is entirely possible that he just penned those lyrics and vocal melodies on short notice. All said, I actually think it wasn't that bad. It wasn't good, but it doesn't warrent you to completely rip them apart.

oh and another thing, I don't know if you guys have heard the three slayer songs that were released, but if there is any band you need to criticize it's slayer. Who knew ripping yourself off could sound so bad, AND those are finished products, produced and fully writen. So give metallica some slack.
