THY VEILS (Rom) 'Immemorable' CD 99
This romanian one-man band released "Prologue", a depressive dark music, "Against an Oblivion of the Forgotten Abyss", a dark ambient music with a more minimalistic sound, then "Immemorable", still in 99, developing a modern ambient music. They'll release their fourth album "Diaphanous Depressions", for the first time with vocals. Review : "Immemorable" 99 The melodic music of Thy Veils is as bewitching as spacial. "Immemorable" keeps this melancholic ambiance, but the tempo becomes lighter, sometimes futuristic. A lot of different instruments to create what I could describe as a dark spiritual music (chellos, percussions, clarinet... and all the variations of a synth's sound) Some passages remember the ethnic sounds of Dead Can Dance, but the percussions and the melodies are really hunting in Thy Veils music. We've got this notion of space, in which the resonans's plays endless turn ansd turn around us, fragile delights staining our silences, fugitive dreams which succeed one another... timeless. The music created here needs neither metal nor vocals, the ascetic atmospheres unveil the deep thoughts of our mind when we enjoy solitude. Thy Veils is a recommended experiment, of an Immemorable beauty.

ÚLFUR (Island) "Ásguðsreið" mp3album 2000 (self-release)
If we aren’t so familiar with the Icelandic regions, we for sure can enjoy several of the Icelandic releases, both inside Black Metal or ambient music. This one man band, formed in 95 by Kveldúlfur also released another Demo gathering Úlfur’s rehearsals tracks of Viking Metal.
"Ásguðsreið" is about atmospheric music, an incredibly calm and deep Demo which remains old ages & forces.
The basic melodies & the slow tempo sets a stability to these instrumental parts, which alternate Nordic & medieval sounds.
Some cavernous vocals emerge on some tracks, as a norse god or a part of the nature itself which suddenly vibrates in these singular soundscapes inspired by Nordic mythology & nature.
Vast, simple, repetitive melodies which let you enter the hall of a boundeless nature, dwelled by winds, murmurs and rustlings. Burzum-esque, intense, you’ll replace your silence by this timeless music. More about the band at http://www.simnet.is/fenrir/Ulfar or http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/348/lfur.html.
