mfw Rush remembers how to rock for the first time in I don't know how long...

This is a C+ and another in a long line of big "Meh" for me for modern-era Rush. No memorable melodies, and the song just clunks along... granted at a nice pace, but that's about it. I'm not getting much from this first listen. Or second listen. We'll see when the entire record is released but while I'm HOPING for the best, I'm not expecting much. Their recent track record for me is very mediocre (and this is coming from a huge Rush fan... granted, I dream of Rush from the MP through HYF era, and their last truly GREAT record was COUNTERPARTS.) MAYBE 2 good songs on S&A, 3 good songs on VT, and 2-3 good songs on TFE, and with that current track record, that doesn't bode well for this new CD.

This track kicks ass - great to hear the boys still ripping it up after close to 40 years.

And as far as I am concerned, Snakes and Arrows and Vapor Trails were great, solid albums.

Really looking forward to hearing the rest of Clockwork Angels

As a fairly casual Rush fan only, I think the new disc is EXCELLENT. This really has a lot more energy than anything they have done in 20 years, and manages to capture elements of their classic 70's sound, combined with their more modern flair. I don't think their are any down songs at all, with "Headlong Flight" and "The Garden" being the standouts for me.

Highly recommended!
