new Sevendust

Fianlly, a good analysis of the bands's sound. Except that they actaully are heavy. Really. They are...my definition of heavy and yours may be different, but I'm calling them heavy.

Cryptopsy, Suffocation, and Origin are also heavy. Heavier than Sevendust, yes, but not by much...

I suppose it depends on people's defenitions. I guess alot of people wouldn't consider a load of riffs and solos heavy (proper metal), whereas they would consider powerchord on top of powerchord (nu-metal) heavy. Everyone has a different opinion, so if you think Sevendust are heavy, I can accept that.

I'd still disagree though :D

i speak from experience with suffocation and origin and they are WAY heavier and WAY faster and WAY more technical than sevendust, i dont mean to rain on your sevendust thing, but dude those two bands own sevendust many many....(years later) many many many many times over

You guys have to understand im not putting Sevendust in the same genre as those death metal bands. Sevendust are extremely talented and heavy in their genre of music yeah cryptopsy and origin are so much more faster and shit but different genres have different opinions and standards for heaviness.

That's fine, but I don't think tat they suck. And I still maintain they are heavy. Origin and cryptopsy were a bad comparison, but Sevendust still rock out. And technicality and brutality have rarely had much to do with quality. I like Cryptopsy and Suffocation and Dream tHeater because I like their music, but the technicality is just another dimension of the music that I notice afterwards.

I long for the days when a sweet riff was enough.

I downloaded- well stole a few songs- and I really didnt care for them- one I think Ive heard on the radio before. They arent terrible- just not very good either

Sevendust the heaviest in their subgenre? My boney ass. In nu-metal probably Slipknot, Dry Kill Logic or American Head Charge are the heaviest. I've liked Sevendust for a while pretty much for their vocalist Witherspoon. His vocals express emotion pretty well and their music brings it out. Their best songs are Denial, Leech, Praise and Follow. That new song Enemy is alright but they made better songs than that. And I guess they're one of the better bands in the mainstream.
