New Slayer album cover... (+ general discussion on new Slayer album/EP - Mod)

Also, anyone notice the "Jihad" on his chest? I'm sure Slayer's socio-political awareness is pretty great, but I really don't need that shit in my music.

It's ok, it's kind of growing on me. I like it, the music on the disc will probably be another story though.

Well, I'm not really impressed with it, but I don't judge books (or albums) by their covers. If that was the case, I never would have gotten Monotheist by Celtic Frost. :kickass:

the masters of real metal are back. fuck opeth, hail slayer.

Slayer haven't recorded anything worth listening to since Divine Intervention, and that was merely so/so.

I won't give up hope on Slayer, because there's always the forlorn hope that they'll somehow remember how to write a good Slayer song. If they happen across this forum, here's some handy hints:

1)Tom could try singing again, and not shouting in a monotone. Ditch the distortion on your mic too - it's gay.
2) Punky riffs are gay.
3) Swearing in your songs is also pretty "nu" and gay.
4) The overt right wing reactionary shtick is tiresome... and gay.
5) Reign in blood is a good album. Playing it verbatim so long after is a recognition of defeat. It is also gay.
6) Slayer ceased to be shocking in 1987. Stop chasing the shock value. You're about as shocking as pensioners doing their shopping (and being gay).

The thing that bugs me about this cover, is the artist who drew/painted it seemed way too pretentious and wanted to symbolise everything. But I can't take that picture seriously. The eye patch is stupid, that big head just makes it look like a joke and the writing like "Jihad" is just :Puke:.

It just doesn't look like a legitimate cover, looks like some guy who just started or something.

I LIKE IT I JUST HORE THE ALBUM IS GOOD:kickass:

If you're hoping for anything greater than SITA, then you'll be dissapointed. If you're hoping for anything greater than DI, then you'll be happy. The new album will probably fall within their. Personally, I wouldn't want another RIB. Its so old and even annoying after 1000+ listens.

I heard a little sample from the new album on their website... it was not inspiring. I still have some small hope that this album sounds more like Slayer and less like Slipknot.
