New Slayer album cover... (+ general discussion on new Slayer album/EP - Mod)

Is this for real? I quite like the concept, but the main guy is so badly drawn it's laughable. It's also a bit too similar to Scars Of the Crucifix for me, which was a better cover anyway. And will no doubt be a better album too, since Slayer have been pretty shizen since Seasons.

I like it.

At first it was a bit of a turn off, but it's very "slayer" from the old days. I like the imperfect nature of everything (big head and eyepatch and stuff), it fits with what Slayer is all about. It honestly gives the feeling that the inside of this CD is an apocalypse of pure evil and chaos.

Hmmm, doesnt really seem like that. Its too transparent, or maybe its just as as symbol, hint at it... Actually looks like aura or something...

It almost looks like an outline of the traditional, Western image of Jesus, which would heighten the impact of the image of the degenerated image of Jesus that is the centerpiece. That's the first thing that I thought about it. I was going to mention it before, but I wasn't sure anyone else would see it.

I doubt it has any profound meaning, it just outlines the head against the streaky background.

If anything it's a corruption of the traditional halo concept, but I doubt it.

Now, I love dead bodies litterd around "jesus" as much as the next guy but.. it just seems a bit unatractive. I suppose someone who is really anti-criest or a really big supporter of Slayer will love it maybe.

I don't know, they need to convert themselves back to the days of "Angel Of Death"... my favorite song of their's anyway.

Good thought.

I wasn't around for the feedback on "God Hates us All"...but this is better than that. Their whole image (and LOTS of other bands for that matter) center around being evil, dark, satanic. It's part of their image - what do you want them to do?

We've all seen the whiplash anyone gets for breaking out of the norm....

Hell Awaits is ten times better. Show No Mercy and Haunting The Chapel are better.

Hell Awaits and Show no mercy are cool, haunting the chaoel is sub-par imo. But reigning blood is fantastic, how is that their weaker material from the 80s?
