New Slayer album cover... (+ general discussion on new Slayer album/EP - Mod)

For the love of god (or satan or whatever) its just a picture. I'd be much more interested in actually hearing the music from the album (holy shit!), especially as I'm a big Slayer fan, and have found a place in my heart for all the stuff they've done.
Obviously the Reign In Blood/ South Of Heaven/ Seasons period is the best, especially if you like thrash metal, which is what Slayer excel at.
However, I don't think it's a bad thing they have included nu-metal influence (and it's only on God Hates Us All), because it made Slayer even more aggressive, and Slayer have always been the angry end of metal.
In terms of the new album, the ideal would be Slayer style late 80's thrash with more recent style, more aggressive vocals, although I hold out little chance of it happening.
I'll also repeat my previous question- when he fuck is it out?

Um, but it's not "just a picture". It's supposed to be art. What people can't talk about art anymore?

My bad, i posted my two cents at about 4 am, drunk. The point I should have been making more elequantly is that I'm never very bothered about the cover of an album, or much of the associated artwork. I buy and listen to an album based on the music alone. Personally, the cover for this new Slayer album evokes no strong feelings in me either way.

Chemical Warfare is on "Haunting the Chapel" FYI. Crionics is AWESOME. It has that long harmony guitar section that is almost as if lifted from the first Maiden or Angel Witch album and it fucking RULES.

:kickass:

>>>I still dont have any early slayer (before reign in blood)

I wouldn't recommend spending money on it unless you have a firm belief in buying things for the sake of being loyal to metal gods. I'll admit I never gave their older stuff much of a chance, but I did give it some...it just was too dated and simple for me to enjoy.

Show No Mercy, Haunting The Chapel, and Hell Awaits are some of the best music ever created. Don't let people tell you otherwise.

so are reign in blood and south of heaven. i wouldnt say there is much in it between reign in blood and hell awaits. show no mercy is substantially better than both of those though.

After looking at the cover again I can say one thing with the utmost confidence:

Slayer Owned Jesus.

Only not as much as "The Passion" did.

WTF? SNM, HTC and Hell Awaits are all great! Hell Awaits is one of the greatest metal tracks of all time!

At Dawn They Sleep is the best track off of Hell Awaits. I really don't care about the new one. Probably gonna suck like the last one....

The album cover looks like it was made by a 16-year-old highschooler during math class. I expect the album will probably sound like the album cover looks if God Hates Us All is anything to go by.

Slayer should buy some talent.

what's so good about Crionics? Hardly one of the stand out tracks when you've got Evil Has No Boundaries, The Antichrist, CHEMICAL WARFARE. In fact most of the other tracks!

I haven't heard chemical warfare (I know, I know), but The Antichrist and Evil Has No Boundaries are pretty lame in my opinion. Crionics has a really good solo. That actual is the one thing that I think Show No Mercy did really well, the solos.

The following slayer songs are some of the best pure metal songs period. Without these songs who knows what bands would not even have bother to play instruments or make heavy music in the 'metal genre'. Even metal bands that are not very metal in a sense are infleunced by slayer.

Chemical Warfare
Die By The Sword
Captor Of Sin
Black Magic
Necrophiliac
Hell Awaits
At Dawn They Sleep
