new song online - now 4 everyone

Do you really expect the new album will have a thrash metal spirit within? I don't. The guys always write and play what they want, not what their fans want. A sticker with THRASH METAL sign was ripped off after Attack Of The Killer B's. Musicwise, the band went through an incredible big transformation. The Sound Of White Noise record set a direction for its followers - the new Anthrax album will be one of them. The line won't be broken. I bet my socks.

I think you are quite right. I'll bet it will be pretty similar to WCFYA (they even said they want to do the "proper" follow up on numerous occasions), so there will be thrashy moments, but this won't be a Thrash record. And as long as the songs will be great, I couldn't care less. I love WCFYA, Vol. 8, Stomp etc. as much as Among and Spreading.

I'll be satisfied If I hear heavier or faster WCFYA version...

Yeah, Scott said something like that somewhere sometimes. But as far as I remember, he had always the mouthful of flattering words about upcoming Anthrax albums. His favourite phrase is: 'This is the heaviest record we've ever written'.... When V8 was released, he said Born Again Idiot is the heaviest song we've ever written'- haha. Well, Scott talks big now and then. In other words, I guess the new album could be titled WCFYA pt II.

it does kinda get boring when they say this is the best thing we have ever done,it kinda disrespectful to the album before lol,i much prefer zakk's line,u cant always hit a home run, sometimes uj do sometimes u dont i guess lol

Nope. No John Bush = no proper WCFYA followup.
It's a whole new era.

It's not just cause I love John..... but this sounds a bit wierd to me...... it's too '90's Alt-grunge stuff. I'm still waiting to hear some final cuts though before I judge too much. But, I don't feel too good so far.

While this is true, there are different directions in which a band can change. For instance, a band can build on their previous sound. Persistence of Time was borderline technical thrash, for instance, and was far darker than the previous albums. This, to me, is a good sort of change; building upon an old sound and maturing it. But to go from doing something as heavy and rebellious as thrash and then do something completely out of the blue like simplify your sound and get a more grungy feel or whatever... 'tis a different thing entirely. In my opinion, anyway.

I'm not saying any song talked about here is bad, I'm just saying that there are two types of change and of course, both effect the fan base in one way or another and in some extreme cases can totally alienate the band's fan base. (*cough* METALLICA *Cough* Though Anthrax have yet to reach Metallica-level epic fail as of yet.)

I complete agree with you. It's just that I never thought Anthrax changed their sound that much. I always thought it was more like when Van Halen changed singers; both versions are great.

I just hope this new version of Anthrax doesn't turn out like VH III.:p

O SNAP. o_O

(it better not...)

And I think Anthrax changed their sound pretty blatantly once Joey left the picture for the first time. Persistence was, like I said, pretty technical thrash. Sound of White Noise, though excellent, was more of a simple metal outing. I liked that they actually made a softer song on that one, though. That was something that the Belladonna era was sorely missing. (And NO NFB does NOT count! :p And neither does the soft section leading up to the EPICNESS in Armed and Dangerous, as kickass as it is!)

True, but you have to remember that all metal changed around that time. Except Slayer, of course, but they never have and never will change.

My point is that Anthrax with John Bush wasn't thrash metal, but they were still very much Anthrax.

By the way, NFB DOES COUNT GODDAMNIT!:bah:

True, but I hate just because how Metallica changed their sound and all the grunge came out, that EVERYONE had to change with it. I mean, they most probably had to because their stupid record companies were drooling all over it, but I wish there was a few big bands who stuck it to the man and continued doing what they were doing or made it into something better and get used to a bit of obscurity for a while. (There were a ton of death metal bands out there that had record deals, no matter how small the companies were.)

But to be honest, I'm really naive about the music industry, so I shouldn't be talkin'.

And no, NFB doesn't count in my book because it's a jokey ballad. I'm talkin' the REAL shit, here. :p (AKA: Guardian by Fates Warning, Anthem to the Estranged by Metal Church; awesome stuff like that.)

They fell in love and she got hit by a bus! How can you say that doesn't move you?:loco:

I think Pantera is the only band that actually got even heavier during the 90's. That's why they were the best or second best metal band ever.
