New Three Stooges Movie Slated for 2010 release! Top Hollwood Talent tapped for cast!

I heard the cast this morning... Sean Penn as Larry; V. Del Torro as Moe (I cannot spell his first name!!!); and Jim Carey as Curly...

I'm on the fence about this... I love the Stooges - come on you hear the music and you KNOW you go running to the TV to watch; they ruled!!! But this movie isn't giving me much hope of justice due..

Sean Penn is a brilliant actor. But why? Is there not enough great episodes of The Three Stooges? I have a feeling that this will fail. Next thing you know people are going to make remakes of Charlie Chaplin movies.

Because Hollywood ran out of good ideas a long time ago, which is why they continue to make movies out of every comic book character ever known.

Ignoring good ideas perhaps. I'm sure there are a lot of good scripts that are purchased. But hollywood is now even more of a money machine that it used to be. They will make movies that they think have the highest chance to profit. Comic book movies and low budget remakes seem to be the method of the day. Oscar movies are just those that are chosen to be released at the proper festivals and at in theaters in the proper timespan.

Luckily, independent studios and foreign studios are putting out some excellent movies each year. Unfortunately, good movies are largely ignored by the award ceremonies (which are all about marketing anyhow) and the general public.

I heard it on DC101 this morning. I cringed when I heard the lineup. I don't think any of them can hold a candle to the original set. I think all of these so-called actors are "stooges", but they just are not THE Three Stooges!

I never liked the show, so there's no reason I'd go see this movie. XP

On the subject of comic book movies: I've liked a good number of them that I've seen. I especially enjoyed Iron Man and The Dark Knight last year, even though Batman movies are not a new thing.

I dont know alot of women that do like them.. The Three Stooges seem to appeal more to men. I've been in the room with men when Moe slaps the hell out of either Larry or Curly and they are on the floor laughing while the women are like "WTF?" "Did we miss something funny?"

I am a huge Stooge fan. I have no faith in this movie at all. I don't think you could ever do justice to the stooges no matter who plays them much less this cast. I'm not saying that they are not talented as I believe them all to be talented actors. Maybe if they made a movie about the off screen life like the one that was on TV a few years back then maybe I could see something there. But to try and recreate the slapstick comedy of one of the greatest comedy troops of all time, come on. There are just some things that should be left alone and I think the stooges is one of those. Like em or not, there is much more to what they did than just hit each other. If you look up straight man in the dictionary, there is a picture of Larry Fine.

Me too!!! Just before the Smell My Face Beltway Race 2... Kyle Bush got robbed!!!!

I find it nearly sacrilegious that they are even attempting this.
I'm an old fugger who thinks they shouldn't mess with the American icons that are the Three Stooges.... Blech!

My mom has said much the same thing. Her dad and brothers loved that show, and she and her mom (My grandma) just sort of stood there saying "Why is this funny?"

When I was in grade school (I went to a Montessori school) one of the teachers would often have us watch Three Stooges episodes. I hated it. :(

Granted, there do seem to be a few women that like the show. And I will admit, a good, old-fashioned pie fight is always entertaining. Though I think the Marx Brothers did it better. ;)

But it's the Farrelly brothers (There's Something About Mary, Dumb & Dumber, Stuck on You) that are putting it on. That should be interesting. Love them.

Hey, I don't know if this is the same Three Stooges movie, but I saw this in today's news. If so, part of it's being filmed less than 1/2 a mile from Center Stage at Colony Square! That's where the Chick-Fil-A, Moes, Tamarind Seed, and Shout are all located.

My uncle used to do this to me all the time when I was a kid.

If those quotes in that story is true, this film will be an abject travesty. I was hoping for the Stooges' life story, rather than just another slapstick comedy.

Problem is, you cannot do similar to what the Stooges did. It took them years to perfect their act. You cannot do that in five takes in a feature film.
