New Tolkki group Glenn hinted about...

Interesting. You'd like to think all that talent coming together will be something special. Due to some of the personalities, though, I'm in "wait and see" mode.

I hope Uli is allowed to contribute creatively to this project. I really thought Helloween and Masterplan lost something vital when he loft those bands and I really enjoyed Ride the Sky and Beautiful Sin.

I'm not. I think this thing is gonna tank real quick

Especially with Tolkki.

My opinion as well... not holding my breath for this one.... :erk:

Anything involving Andre Matos warrants a listen. I would listen to the sweet sounds of him taking a piss for an hour if he released it.

...I didn't like Mentalize though. :[

I'm still waiting on some new material from Beautiful Sin. To me, they were much more than a side project.

Did anyone check the video interviews on their website?

They have clips in the backgrounds - and it's not stuff I've heard before - so I'm thinking it's demos from the new band. Definitely sounds promising to my ears!

I'm all for the music above all else - if this produces anything, then I'll give it a fair shake. Yeah, Tolkki's been a bit unstable - but I still like the music he writes. RR's Trinity was a definite solid effort and it felt RR was finally finding itself. Also - from the pictures and the interview, he sounds more reasonable and down to earth now. Looks like he's lost a lot of weight too
So I'm hopeful

This.

Also, I know I'm kinda alone on this, but I've never really liked Andre Matos' voice. I wish this had a different singer on it.

Most likely I'm expecting it to be just one-album project and then disband... but it COULD be a really good album.

I thought Ride the Sky was good the first few times I listened to it. Hell, I loved it at first spin. However, with more and more listens, I started to realize that the album was an enjoyable, but pretty average power metal release. I haven't broken that out in a really long time - that's how tired of it I became.

As for Beautiful Sin, I honestly never cared for it.

I didn't purchase it, but I definitely was listening to a lot of their tracks on their myspace for a while. I felt the same thing with Ride the Sky. At first I liked the stuff and then later on where I checked it out again to see if it warranted a purchase, it did just seem average to me.

If Glenn brings these guys to PP 13, I hope he has plenty of security. That show is gonna be the second coming of Long Night at Wrong Beach. Jari and Tolkki will probably kill each other backstage.

4 CDs???? Marquee Avalon has some faith.

YOu'd be surprised how much a new environment can change things. Sometimes when you put such volatile, creative personalities together, the result is a cohesiveness you'd never have predicted.

Or, it could fall apart in an instant. But I'd put my money on this succeeding. Tolkki's sounding good these days, like he's got his head back on his shoulders.
