After my bass died I finally decided it was time to get some new toys. What do you guys think?

Warwick Corvette $$ 5 (Red)
Line 6 Lowdown Studio 110
Focusrite Saffire Pro 26 I/O
Focusrite Liquid Mix
Boss TU-2
Boss V-Wah
Jim Dunlop DC-Brick

I got a stupid deal on all the stuff thanks to working in the store (£1400 in total and it should have been £2350), I just have to wait until my Liquid Mix and 26 I/O arrive and I'll be so happy. :kickass:

As soon as I've paid for all this stuff I'm probably going to pick up a Roland TD-12 kit too, I just can't justify another £1500 right now!! (Especially when I'm not a drummer!!)

Now, off to rest my hands, the Warwick has forced me to stop playing with picks and my right hand is really not happy with me!! :ill:

Does the Saffire Pro have built in DSP effects like the regular Saffire? I almost bought it instead of the Firepod, but I have not heard anything about the pre's so I went with the Presonus instead.

No it does not. It comes with some plug ins though.

I almost went with the saffire pro instead of the firepod also. I went firepod because I wanted money for mics!

You'll have to post a review of that Saffire and the LiquidMix - I've been considering ditching my Firepod and picking up the Saffire, and adding a LiquidMix into the chain.

Will do, I'll be using them both cross-platform so I'll try and go into as much detail as possible when I've had them for a few days (I'm expecting them by the end of next week).

I'd steer away from the saffire pro if I were you, we have one at uni and it's always crashing stuff, first one we got was faulty too. Having 2 channels of adat is a nice bonus though instead of the usual 1. And from what I gather, the pres seem to be octopre LE

There are some firewire issues running the Saffire Pro on macs. You have to get one of the recommended cards. There are no issues so far with using it on pc that I know of. I bought one last week. The mic pres are not from the Octopre, and they sound just fine.

I also bought a Duende, a Reflexion Filter, and an AT4060. Gonna get a black 737 next month hopefully. I might buy a DTC tonight. Fuck it.

I didn't mean that there's anything wrong with the preamps, I like the octopre :) If it's just a mac issue then, it looks like a much more solid purchase!

I got them both yesterday, the Saffire Pro works fine. Better than fine in fact, it's amazing. The ability to add two different ADAT devices is a godsend,

I've got a few issues with the Liquid Mix and the PCMCIA firewire card I bought for it (VIA chipset, the bastards told me it was TI!!) but the sound is awesome. The Alan Smart C2 emulation has already replaced the Waves SSL Bus Compressor in my master chain.

The EQ is so cool and the Pultec emulation is amazing for getting surgical with guitars and vocals.

When my copy of Cubase 4 gets here and I finish re-wiring the studio I'm going to be doing some demos so I'll post clips and a review of how they both hold up multi-tasking during a real session.

All this new stuff makes me want to get a new computer .... though after spending £1400 just last week I need to earn a little money from this stuff before I can look into that.
