Need New Interface

Ok, it's about time I upgrade my interface. I'm seriously considering getting a Focusrite Liquid Saffire 56 and an M-Audio Profire 2626. However, before I pull the trigger, I figured I'd make a post here to verify there's nothing better out there for the money.

Can anyone think of/suggest another interface around or under $1,000 that might be better than the Liquid Saffire 56? I'm getting the Profire in conjunction because I need more than 8 mic inputs. But, if you can think of a cheaper alternative that gives me more than 8 pres/inputs, I'm all for it.

Any ideas?

Thanks

True, but this is my thinking: I hear nothing but good things about the Profire 2626 - even the preamps, and it will allow me to use ProTools if I feel like it. Besides, there's not too many 8-channel pres on the market for less than a Profire, I don't think.

Any interfaces in the price range that might be a better bet?
Sound quality is important to me, but frankly, I feel I've gotten pro results even with a $400 interface. The problem with said interface is the stability.
