New Ulver song

You're view of originality isn't universal, just a slight remindeder.

That's because my knowledge of music is vastly more extensive that of most other folks. Sure, if you have no frame of reference, Ulver might seem original, but if you're familiar with the styles they work in, it's pretty obvious they don't bring much to the table that isn't already out there. It's pretty telling that Ulver's fanbase continues to consist largely of metal fans - they're just not an important or innovative force in electronic music.

Exactly was I was trying to say about other "innovative" black metal bands.... such as Alcest.

And what the hell "qft" means..... I'm not familiar with lazy nerds talking.

One would have to be a fool to not find Le Secret original. Souvenirs is original in a sense, not so much in a "we're doing so many different things that are out there" way, but more in the taking the shoegaze formula and replacing the typical noise rock sections with more peaceful and serene acoustic folky bits.

I got nothing out of this song. Nothing.

Sorry, I was expecting something similar to "It is Not Sound", which is the only new-era Ulver song I ever liked (though I've read that it isn't very typical of their sound.

I haven't heard of Themes from William Blake's The Marriage of Heaven and Hell though. How would you describe that album?

Some good stuff on it but overall too long and inconsistent. It's my least favourite Ulver album.

Have you tried A Quick Fix of Melancholy? It's a small 4 song EP and it's pretty different from their other new stuff. Though if you are mainly into metal I guess it might do nothing for you. I still find it one of their best releases and think it's too bad they never explored that sound further before moving on.
