I'm running without a good reference on these tunes, so I've been checking them against earbuds, car stereo, etc... I need to know if I'm heading the right direction with this. BTW--these are just demo mixes; demos just for handing out at gigs, MySpace, and local radio...just so people will know the songs when we start playing live.

Thanks,
Travis

Oh yeah, I'm a candidate for the MacGruber award in audio production for the drums... but that's another story.

Drums are... tama drums, but the micing is a sad tale.

Guitars are Jackson RR5 with a Duncan Full Shred and an old USA Dinkey with a Duncan IDKW (I don't know what) in the bridge through an old 5150 and the Marshall Larry (Kerry) King JCM 800. The 5150 is through a 1960 cab. The Larry is through a Marshall V30 bottom cab. The bass is direct out of the Marshall tube bass head. It's 400 watts, but I don't remember the model.

The main thing I'm shooting for is to find out if the low end is muddy, thin, etc. I know they're a bit loosy-goosy (especially the one Waste Away), but that aspect is "good enough" until we do a full-length.

Try stepping on the guitars a bit harder with the multiband in the mud zone. I like the bite on them, but they seem a touch thumpy.

That & try the Stilwell Rocket compressor demo out on the snare.
