New Within Temptation single

1. Sharon is drop dead gorgeous, as well as her voice!
2. Overall, the song is fantastic, as well as the video. I like the whole guardian angel concept, but that's just me.
3. Whoever this guy is, I love his voice. If he sings rock, then I'd like to check his stuff out.
4. I hate to tell some of you this, but this ballad isn't much different from the ballads on Mother Earth. Take a listen to the songs, Our Farewell and In Perfect Harmony.

Never Ending Story and Our Farewell are absolutely nothing like this. Their ballads are usually piano driven. In Perfect Harmony is the only one that's not and the symphonic parts are far more interesting and the guitar is more folksy than straight out of country pop.
Sorry, but this is just shitty uninspired radio fodder. I love their older ballads and I love the material that's come from Danny Cavanagh and Anneke so it's not the acoustic part that's scaring me off. Hell, I grew up listening to singer-songwriters all the time and that's predominantly acoustic driven. This is the boring stuff I'd expect from an American Idol contestant and not WT so I really hope it's their attempt at a radio hit and not indicative of the sound of this entire album.

I am not at all impressed with this new track. They can and should do much better than this. If their next album is full of this type of songwriting, I will not purchase a copy. With that being said, I'd still love to see them play at a future PPUSA!

I really didn't love it. Yes, I admit I can be a total fanboy about many bands much of the time, but I also know what I DON'T like when I hear it, too. Latest WT single? 5/10

Not a terrible song for your typical, cheesy, pop ballad, but totally uninspired. And the attempt at a tear-jerking video irritated me. Very cliche. When they showed the tear coming out of that guy's eye, all I could think of was this:

Big thumbs down on this one.

I don't give more than 10/10s here anymore, in an effort to tone down my unbridled enthusiasm for all things metal by just a hair or so. Let me just say that I like the new Delain WAY better than the new WT

I've not heard Delain yet, but I know I need to. Seems like every time I go to place an order, its the first item that I choose to wait on...... One of these days!

Big WT fan here. Think the song is just what they need to get into mainstream American radio. If marketed correctly, it WOULD make it into a C&W record rotation. Rock stations might carry it as well, Adult Contemporary is more likely.

For those who hate it: I think your attitude says more about your fealty to WT's sound than to the quality of the song.

WT should market it as a single. Maybe sell a few albums. Maybe gather a wider audience.

To Zod: Yes, this argument has been posted before and yes you are going to come down on the other side of it. I still think that the only way we are going to bring a wider audience to our genre (and help keep it alive) is to have bands put a toe over the line and gently guide people to the music we hold dear.

That said, I like that song. Not because it is poppish, but because it can evoke emotion. That is what all songs are supposed to do.

That sounds like it makes sense if that's what the artist wishes. I think though that a genre or scene is still kept alive by its core audience. Sure, a band's audience may not grow if they do not change their sound in order to appeal to a wider audience. That does not mean however, that their current fanbase does not show the support needed to keep them going.
