Still think our news media tells us the truth?

This is one area in which America really comes into their own in terms of suckage. Our government have mostly stood side by side with Bush, but at least we get honest and impartial media coverage on the implications of our actions, both good and bad.

LOL Newsweek is a joke. Someone got me a scrip to it for a year and I couldn't bring myself to read any of them. Terrible terrible magazine that panders to the left with no apologies. I recommend Foreign Policy

That album rules this hard -->:kickass:

The Post (why do I keep reading this? Know your enemy, I guess) had an article on this, in which Newsweek defended it by saying that they prefer to alternate between having real news and "human interest" items on the cover, the latter of which sells more and is obviously a euphemism for trivial shit. Translation: Dumb sells, the truth doesn't (duh, but the only possible conclusion).

More brilliant journalism from MSNBC (who are also affiliated with Newsweek).

Anyone who thinks the covers above are an attempt from Newsweek to shield the U.S. from..ahem.."the truth", or thinking badly about the war on terror are blind. The different cover is simply to save face to avoid outrage from the multitude of people who would see the cover and don't agree with their agenda. They know exactly what they're doing. This is what get's spoken directly to their audience.

Is the "Losing Afghtaliban" article in the U.S version though?

I'm quite certain it is. The people at home that would be outraged by that cover are also the same people who wouldn't buy the magazine anyway.

Yep - just checked the newsweek website. The story is indeed in the U.S. version of the magazine.

Then what is the big deal?!?! :u-huh:

Yeah, I don't blame them at all. They're going to get plenty of RAH CANCEL MY SUBSCRIPTION letters either way, but at least this way they'll also get money. They should have the balls to give their real reasons though.
