Next mixing context - Deadline August 12, 2006 @ Midnight

Yea - you are so right, "mixing" a song it's not only about twisting some knobs. That particular song could benefit a lot from aditional editing as well as a lot of manual gain riding etc.

Maybe you can post CJWalls mix? That's just cool that the band and you was able to select your fave!!

I have to add that this topic/contest/whatever was greatly managed by you, as i said i just discovered the tread recently, but it seems that everyone had big fun to fire up his/her DAW.

thumbs up for you!

A few issues:

1. There are over 20 entries and this forum only allows 20 max poll options.
2. Some mixes are complete and some are not.
3. Even an entry that was not the best mix, some deserve credit for "producing" too because they rearranged the song in some instances. Kudos to them. I thought that was way cool.

The band and I already agree that CJWall had the best mix overall. In fact, he is set to mix their next full length CD that we begin tracking this weekend.

Splatt88 and CJWall were both hired to mix two projects and I plan to keep using them as long as they let me. They both have a great ear for mixing.

so what you're really saying is CJWall won the competition lol !

Any mixes that were not complete should not have been included and then that would have brought the number down to 20 or below perhaps?

Anyway while i agree it was cool to be offered some wavs to mix, i think the "contest" was badly managed as its only after a few posters ask some questions that we find out this info. Not having a go or anything mate but its a bit of a bummer for all of us to spend time doing something only to hear nothing about it again.

Anyway rant over. i'm just bitter i didnt win lol

Man, tough crowd. I put a lot of time and effort into to keeping this thread going...............

Forget it, I am too pissed to say much more. I'll just keep my mouth shut.

?

are you serious?

i've just read through the thread.. the last few pages anyway, and i can't for the life of me figure out where you are justified to be upset. you picked a winner, you didin't announce it, some folks here called you out on it (very politely i might add), and your reaction is to get mad. w/e, i'm not the Behavior Police by any means so if that's how you wanna roll, go for it. alternately you could have just said, "oops, my bad... CJWall won, the band picked him"... over and done and no "getting pissed" necessary.

But I didn't think our choice was really the boards choice. That's why I didn't declare CJWall as the "official" winner.

I was still trying to find a way to post the files fairly. I tried soundclick but that service sucks. I posted all the files before and I fucked up the ID tags. And I still can't figure out the voting process.

I stated a few days ago "politely" that I was still working on it. Then I get this mini-rant from Mr. Funk. So, yes, I was upset but I'm over it now.

dude my "mini rant" was a "joke with a jag" as we say over here in the UK. Plus as far as i can see from searching you posted something about "still trying" on another thread about a seperate mix and even if i had have read that before posting earlier i wouldnt have had a clue you were refering to this contest thing.

As i said i think it was great that the wavs were offered to mix, and the contest idea was fun, however the 'prize" offered to the winner was to mix the tunes and thats what CJ Wall has got (fair play mate!) so you can see how it seems like he is the winner but no one gets told. That was my point-no hard feelings :)

I know dude, I'm sorry. This was a pain in the arse and I let it get the best of me. I really was afraid to say he was the winner since the board did not vote on it.

In fact, most people thought his Fools Crown mix was the best but we ended up choosing Splatt88. The band and I felt he best matched what they were going for.

Don't take me too seriously, I must have started my period.

again, sorry......................

Hey MKS!

The only thing which is important when doing a mixing-job is:

DOES THE BAND LIKE IT??

So, even if it is cool to discuss the mixes in a www-board - the last word on it should had the band/the producer (you).
