Im not sure how many of yall listen to deathmetal type stuff... but Nightrages new disc Sweet Vengeance owns me. Tomas is the best screamy vocalist eva.

I tried to get into this record and was totally underwhelmed. I dunno if I'm just bored of the style or if it just reached its peak years ago or what - I can't put my finger on it. Something about all the melodic swedish blackened/death metal of the last 5 yrs or so just leaves me uninspired.
I agree with you mostly.. but a few things get to me.. and though I am glad that Tompa has chosen to explore other types of music (Disfear, TGD, exc.), I love him in Melodic Death type stuff.... and these songs are brutal.. but catchy.. I adore it.

The Great Deceiver could be totally awesome, but they play way too rigid and suck all the energy and feeling out of the music. I love Kristian Wahlin's guitar playing and songwriting, but he too seems to have lost it a bit. Ever hear that third Diabolique record? ugh.
I like the TGD because the mix leaves alot of room for Tomas's voice to resonate... sounds all evil..haha.. but I know what you are sayin.. they could totally be better.. The chorus on Peirced and Poisoned Chalice I think show their potential.... but there are too many wishy washy songs on the record.
