The world premiere of Nightwish's new video "The Islander" was on MTV Finland yesterday, April 14th. The video directed by Tuomas "Stobe" Harju was shot in Lapland near Rovaniemi last fall and enhanced using similar 3D graphics technique as was used in Lord of the Rings.

The longer version is now uploaded on The Nighwish Official Channel in Youtube by the band's permission.

Some adjectives mentioned by the first viewers: Incredible, stunning, awesome... view yourself

This has to be the best video I have ever seen, it is incredible beyond belief. What else can be said, it is a visual experience of seer grace.

Wow, beautiful. Well done. That is one of my favorite songs on the new album. Marco's talent really shines through.

did anyone notice the strings on the one guitar had no tension on them and were just flopping around? That looked funny:lol:
But on a serious note I agree with AMBR, Marco really sounds good on this and although I am not a big Nightwish and I love his intense vocals, I wish they would let him sing more like this... I am not familiar with their entire cataloge... maybe he does... I just have their most recent release because I have followed Annette's career since the Alyson Avenue days...

This is a fantastic video! I'm a little surprised that the band has released this as a single, since Marco sings lead. I guess where it strays off the usual Nightwish formula I guess. It's a pretty cool song though.

Have I ever mentioned that I think Annette is a doll? :) I can't wait to finally see this band in the fall!

Where at? Charlotte? They put on a killer show for us in ATL last November! Enjoy!

The tension on the strings was on purpose. It is consistent with the video and song.

Well done video. Very good song.

Marco is a great singer. I'd love to hear a solo album from him sometime (I know he sings on Tarot albums).

The best part about Annette is that Marco gets to sing more at shows now.

Yea, I noticed that too, and assumed it was for some kind of imagery/artistic effect. Jukka's drumming with driftwood was for the same reason, I'm sure, but I have to confess, that is the only part that looked a tad silly to me and just in the opening shot. Made me laugh 'cause he's trying to look serious and I'm sure he felt a little silly.

Anyway, I agree with Vanessa, the first two videos were not great. This one really shines. It creates atmosphere and provokes a lot of thought without trying to use cheesy metaphors and imagery. Seen a bit to much of that lately from a number of groups.

Completely agreed on all counts!

Knoxville, TN actually. Tickets go on sale May 10th! I actually had tickets to the Atlanta show, but I just couldn't bring myself to drive down there last November. I had a lot going on at the time and was just too darned tired. :erk:

I'm glad it's working out for ya this time. I wish this K-Ville show would coincide with a Vols' home football game! Go Big Orange!:kickass:

If this does not tell you that Marco Hietala was the most under-appreciated person in music, nothing else will. His work is absolutely insane. I once said it: "The Islander" live was a religious experience:notworthy. If live was a religious experience, what can one possibly call this piece of music video majesty? Arguably one of the greatest music vids of all time:rock::rock:. And, I am NOT surprised that they released a single. Why rock radio here is not playing it, I have no f-ing clue.

Yes, folks. Nightwish is back with a vengeance! :worship::worship::worship:
