NIGHTWISH: Yesterwynde

I wouldn't call it a metal album, but it has metal sprinkled in. Its going to require another spin or two of the album before I can decide whether its worth it. Some parts of it sound like movie soundtrack filler, while other parts are pretty good. I can see why Marco left, given the nature of his recent projects. Time will tell on this one as I want to like Yesterwynde because of what Nightwish once was. Once.

I was a HUGE fan of Nightwish, and I look at Floor Jansen as being one of THE BEST vocalists in rock and metal. I absolutely love her. And yet, it seems like Tuomas just doesn't know how to properly utilize Floor to her full potential. On paper, this should have been such a perfect match, but after three studio albums, I just don't think it's clicking the way I had hoped. Ok Floor....time to do a solo album with Arjen Lucassen, like Simone Simons did, lol.

Agreed. She is wasted in the band unfortunately, but I imagine the paychecks are nice. I can't say I've heard anything really worthwhile from the band since Imaginaerum. So, 13 years of mediocrity.
