Shit damn oldschoolisch mix here. Is it good sounding or what? A tad to much top-end on guitars, but i love that raw drum sound. George Kollias is one of the sickest drummers you know...

The music is boring, the guitars and vocals sound horrible to me.
The band should be applauded for trying something new, within the context of "Nile's music".
However, it seems to be extremely divisive so far.

The first track that was put up really sucked IMO but the intro for that top one rules.

George is a sick drummer but I've kinda grown tired of his style.
This is the first I've heard from the new album and I must say that the drums sounds okay but the guitar tone isn't really that good. Don't like the vocal mix either.
Guess I have to listen to the album soon. Who knows, maybe I'll change my opinion. In Their Darkened Shrines was their last masterpiece(!) and Annihilation of the Wicked is really good but after that they started rolling downhill. They still make good music but they have made way better.

old school NILE fan here.

new album can't touch Annihilation Of The Wicked soundwise which is the best sound NILE has ever had imo.
songwise there's some cool oldschool moments like 0.38 here: http://soundcloud.com/nuclearblastrecords/nile-the-fiends-who-come-to
black seeds riff and karl's vocals are badass here.

but the songs are nowhere near as good as the ones on Black Seeds Of Vengeance or In Their Darkened Shrines.

edit: man, listening to Masturbating THe War God right now. how awesome their music was.

The first two metal albums i ever bought were Behemoth's The Apostasy and Nile's Ithyphallic.

I really don't care for any of their newer stuff at all and when I saw them live at the New England Hardcore and Metal fest they were atrocious. They were the only band nobody stayed in for or moshed for

I've loved this band since Amongst the Catacombs. IMO, their output has steadily declined in structure/ listenability since Black Seeds of Vengeance. I still like ITDS and AotW a ton, but they're never topping Black Seeds as far as I'm concerned. Damn that record was good. I bought the last one, but didn't really get into it. Seems like they're just recycling the same stuff at this point.

I think ithyphallic marked a change in the way NILE writes songs, maybe even since annihilation of the wicked.

just read an interview with karl in which he states:" If it had any resemblance of a structure we’d already done, we would purposefully either throw it out, or invert it, or subvert it, or pervert it into something else. I was so far down this path of like, “Nothing can be like anything before. It all has to be completely different!”

here he basically confirms it.
I think if they had recycled the style of black seeds I'd still consider them my favourite death metal band of all time.

in the end it's just something bands do, change their style. because most importantly, they have to keep making music that's interesting for them.

Honestly if this was their first album and they were some new band that would completely change the game. Its the fact that its not like the older stuff which I love (I know that sounds bratty but its kinda just how it is for me)

Gonna buy this album, for sure. I like the songs, though not (yet?) among my favourite Nile songs. Totally love the natural, raw sounding production. Would buy only for that and get used to the songs later. ;)

Blasphemy, seriously, stick with it.
It's incredible, I bet even the Nile fans who DO like the new one will tell you this is miles better.

That George Kollias - New DVD 2012 teaser video is amazing. His double bass technique is unreal.
