Nile slayed Houston last night!

For those who call Nile noise, let me just say that they played last night here in Houston, and what a beautiful "noise" it was! :p

I strongly urge those of you who doubt to go check them out! It takes a lot of skill and technique to pull off their material live, especially with all of the computer stuff that has to be timed and on cue... it's incredible to witness. They transport you elsewhere, with the Egyptian melodies intertwined with the most brutal death metal. And all three up front singing just makes it that much more powerful.

Still my pick for #1 release of 2002. And this show, being the first of the tour, which also features Napalm Death, Dark Tranquillity and Strapping Young Lad (brainchild of Devin Townsend who first appeared to me on Vai's Sex & Religion cd), is an early contender for show of 2003.

Please feel free to check out the review of the show at our zine, Mainstream Resistance's forum here on Ultimate Metal.com

I could've seen Nile but didn't. I went to the Nile/Arch Enemy/Hate Eternal/Origin show last year in Detroit. Worst concert I've ever been to. Origin and Hate Eternal were noise at its absolute worst. I could not tell one song from the next. Better yet, the band I actually went to see, Arch Enemy, got screwed into playing a 25 minute set which was plagued by sound problems. I didn't even stick around for Nile. I would've shot someone had I heard another fucking blast beat on that night.

when the mighty Devy is there...who the fuck cares about the other bands :)

That's what I was thinking!!

How long has Napalm Death been putting music out? I would swear that I bought an album of theirs in the early 80's.

Can't wait for this tour myself, only 3 weeks...

BastrdDrmr: You're just determined to be as closed-minded as possible and irritate everyone to no end, aren't you? You must have the most pigeon-holed personal tastes of nearly anyone I've met, and that's saying something. And WHY you feel the need to inform everyone of this over and over and over again is beyond me...

Liquid: Napalm's been around FOREVER man, I wouldn't at all be surprised if you got a CD of theirs way back in the day...

Heh, I know the feeling. I remember me mum driving me to a Disc-o-mat (I think only NJ residents will remember those) to purchase Anthrax: Fistful of Metal, Metallica: Kill 'Em All, and uh, Saxon: Crusader on cassette back in the day...ahh, the memories.

I have given Nile a shot..... Just out of curiousity... And boy did I have a good laugh  Seriously, I started laughing when I heard "Unas, slayer of the gods" or sthing like that.. omg... Sorry, that just isn't my cup of tea.. But nice for a laugh ;)

Kinda like the  I got from your post...

Seriously though, what do you find wrong with it?

I keep hearing people say that if you just keep listening to stuff like Nile it will just eventually click. There was a post on the general music board where a guy said how "noise just turned into music". Still not my style, but mainly because I never liked the deep growl.

@Yngser- No matter what you do if you don't like that type of music, you won't like it no matter how many listens you give them. At least you checked them out though.

Honestly I do enjoy that music except for the vocals. Everytime I check out one of those bands I enjoy it until the vocalist comes in with the growl. Oh well, I can't force myself to like something.
