It sounds so damn good. But one box of SAMPLE avocado oils (three 250ml bottles) costs $70!!

That doesn't make any sense. Avocado should be extremely easy to extrat oil from and should produce a lot of it. Avocado is one of the "fattest" fruit ever. They are just cashing in the rarity factor.

It does sound good as hell though...

yeah, definitely the rarity thing. i bet it's less in New Zealand, too.

i wonder if there's an American (California?)-based place that makes something similar?

a google search for "avocado oil california" yields a ton of results.

unfortunately none of my local groceries who'd carry that stuff have decent online catalogues. check Whole Foods or Trader Joes.

yes, i have to hit up trader joe's for mango sauce pretty soon, so i'll definitely plumb their shelves for avocado oil!
