Hi guys, I can't get any sound from the choke cymbals in SSD4 (using Pro Tools 8.0.3), anyone with the same problem?

In SSD4 do the chokes actually sound normal instead of just muting the actual hit of the cymbal?
I have the EX version and when I do mutes they are just hard cut mutes rather than the sound of someones hand grabbing the cymbal to choke it... and it drives me crazy and has actually kept me from releasing a few tracks for a friends band because it sounds retarded.
