sooooo our drummer got into some trouble and will be locked up for a minimum of 90 days. Hearing is this month. A few of the bandmates are talking about having our bassist fill in on drums. But, that'd require him to actually learn all the parts and play them tight. Would you guys find a fill in drummer just to carry your band for 90 days, or sit down and work on writing/prepping for next recording?

we play out an average of every other weekend, I'd say to be safe. I think we only have 2 shows in October though. Guess we're gonna take a vote tonight. I personally feel that it'd give us proper time to get a few new songs together to at least have a 10 song EP......creating click tracks is sort of a pain as well. We also need to work on our room, the drumset we will record with, etc. We could even track DI guitars and bass and vocals to the clicks and have that all ready for when the drummer is released.

What'd he do?

I don't think I would put up with that shit in a serious band. Personally, I'd replace him.

DUI. Second offense. I guess a cop actually followed him until he was PARKED and had his lights off/keys out of the ignition before the cop even turned on his blue and reds. Literally right in front of dudes house. Yeah, he shouldn't have driven after drinking, but it just seems fucked up to me. Either way, it's a shitty situation for all of us. We discussed replacing him, having a fill-in, etc. We live in the middle of nowhere and most of the GOOD drummers are taken. I personally think it's the perfect time to write and prep for recording. I just like to have outside opinions of other band members.

What the fuck is it with Americans and having basically no problems with drink driving? I know you get pricks in every country that do it but it seems like such a common occurrence over there.
Risking other peoples lives drink driving is one of the most selfish, retarded things you can do imo.

I fucking hate drummers

Hey, write your own one-liners!

"Heyy, it's a free country maaann" :Puke:

Still, I think what he meant was that if someone's driving in a way that could be dangerous then you should stop them, not let them finish their potentially lethal journey and THEN go after them. Kinda bypasses half the point of stopping drink drivers.......

Yeah I can understand that side of it. Mind you sometimes drunk drivers seem to think they can outrun the cops, so waiting for someone to park up eliminates the potential for an escape attempt.

To whoever think drinking a little bit before driving is no problem: a couple months ago, i picked up my daughter at the school, and when I step outside, I heard a LOUD breaking noise..some asshole was driving after drinking 'a little bit', ran too fast, ran over a kid, her mother and an old lady. The kid suffered just some bruises, the mother broke a leg and an arm and the old lady lost her feet. I actually SAW this, and it was very fucked up.

If you can find a fill-in, try to convince him to stay with you guys.

Wow, thats rough.

A mate of mine once had a great idea for those anti-drink-driving advertising campaigns.
No pictures of smashed up cars or gore, just massive billboards along the road with white text on a black background :

IF YOU DRINK AND DRIVE YOU ARE A CUNT

I like his idea.

I liked the icelandic approach. Instead of putting up pictures, they just put the wrecked cars on top of massive metal scaffolds by the roadside. Definitely gets your attention

The worst thing is, this would never happen. But it would probably be ten times more effective than any other campaign.
