I returned home yesterday from Reggio Emilia in Italy, King Diamond was supposed to play in a local club there... To our great disappointment, upon arrival to the club's parking lot we were "greeted" by a "concerto annulato" sign. :erk:
So much for travelling 800km to find out the gig's been cancelled the same afternoon!

Anyone else got screwed like this? :(

That just sucks bigtime Sickboy travelling all that way only to find out that the gig had been cancelled. I feel your pain!!!!!

I go to loads of concerts but only one has ever been cancelled and it was last summer when I went into Glasgow to see Blackfoot. I'd never seen them before and was well hyped up about the gig and they were playing at The Renfrew Ferry which is just a wee venue, so it would have been awesome seeing Blackfoot there. But I just kept thinking that I couldn't imagine seeing Blackfoot play there and even before I left for the concert I checked The Ferry's website to make sure everything was ok. It wasn't till we got to the actual venue that we were told the gig had been cancelled at the last time cos there were noise restrictions in place at the Ferry at this time and during soundcheck Blackfoot had apprently went over the permitted noise levels and the management at the Ferry refused them permission to play. To say I was gutted is a massive understand. I didn't have to travel too far, it only takes me about 30 mins to get into Glasgow, but I was sooooo looking forward to seeing Blackfoot that I nearly burst into tears when told it was cancelled.

Went back to the Solid Rock Bar and as soon as I walked in Highway Song was playing and that made things even worse. But the one consolation that night was when I came out of the toilets, who was standing there all by himself but Greig T. Walker , bassplayer with Blackfoot.I couldn't believe it, I just wandered right over to him and started chatting away to him. He was really nice and apologised for gig being cancelled but said it was The Ferry's fault. He promised that Blackfoot would come back to Glasgow this year but I think he was just saying that to keep me happy.

Got a few photos taken with him and my cousin. I look a bit wrecked cos I'd been drowning my sorrows for about 4 hours after the shock of not seeing Blackfoot!!!

I didn't know you liked Blackfoot. Great band !! I guess you know that Ricky Medlocke is now the lead guitarist for Lynyrd Skynyrd. I saw them about four years ago. Medlocke was awesome. I wanted him to sing a song or two though. They also have Michael Cartellone on drums. Cartellone was amazing as well.

edit.... I forgot to mention Walker is trying to get Blackfoot going again.... www.blackfootrocks.com

Man that really sucks !! That is a long way to go !! You can always come a few more kms to Atlanta Georgia and listen to me bitch about the fact Vanden Plas isn't headlining Prog Power USA.

Man, we'd have so many topics to bitch about...
King Diamond is just the freshest wound. ;)

Not to mention the fact that I'm jobless lately, so this useless expense isn't welcome at all...
I guess bad luck likes to double its strike. :D

That sucks, Sickboy! That really is too bad. I've never had a similar experience. You'll get something better in return, someday. It's Kharma.

I had that happen to me during the Iron Maiden Vitual XI tour. Blaze Bailey pulled up sick with bronchitis or some such lung ailment and the show was cancelled when we arrived to the venue after being stuck for 2 hours in the interminable Los Angeles traffic.

They did return about a month or so later. Not that it was any great show, except for Dio opening for Maiden and blowing out the front of house PA. (Second time I've seen Dio where he's done that.) Found out that Blaze couldn't sing his way out of a paper bag onstage. Fortunately, that was his final tour.

That Sucks..I remember being in the Army and wanted to go to a Death Angel concert in Holland... Normally we had to be back inside the barracks at 10 PM and I had to move hell and earth (and a little help from a metal minded sergeant) to get permission to stay out longer. So when we arrived in Holland there was a "gig canceled" sign on the door :ill:
But 800 km, that really sucks big time !!!

Hehe I know some folk are always a bit surprised when I say I like Blackfoot. It's mostly NWOBHM and classic rock and a handful of new bands that I listen to and I really don't like much Southern rock, in fact Blackfoot are the only Southern band that I'm into. I never ever got into Skynyrd and I've heard loads of their stuff and I absolutely utterly hate Sweet Home Alabama, the only 2 LS songs I like are Freebird (obviously) and That Smell but I really love Blackfoot and that Marauder is my fav album, its mindblowing. They have played in Glasgow before, once they were supporting the Scorpions and I don't know why I didn't go to that concert cos I love both those bands - maybe I was away seeing Saxon or Angel Witch . And it would have been sensational to have seen Blackfoot at the Ferry which is just a totall rawking atmospheric small venue but it never happened and I'm still devastated about the concert being cancelled. I couldn't listen to any Blackfoot albums for nearly 6 months after that!!!!! I know some folk that have seen them before and they said they were nothing short of magnificent live, so hopefully they will come back over here again SOON!!!

Has anyone frome the KD crew said anything about refunds or rescheduling?

Rescheduling? No way... Their last European dates are in Spain and that's it. If they fail to get the tour for the next album from their record company like for Abigail II, I doubt they'll do it in next five years... :erk:

Refund? Hell no!
We didn't buy a ticket, got there found out there was no gig and bowed our heads...

Sorry SB what a drag :erk:

Now I'm feeling scared about PP...

Why should you feel scared about PP? I've never heard stories about cancellations on that one...

Vanden Plas cancelled out on PP II because it was the November after 9/11 in 2001 and they didn't want to travel. Nevermore has now cancelled twice. Jorn replaced them this time around. I don't remember which other time they cancelled.

Wyvern, no worries about PP. Even if someone does cancel I have enough confidence in Glenn to get a suitable replacement. We'll have a lot of fun no matter who's playing. I guarantee it. :headbang:

If not we can always burn Atlanta (Gone with the Wind) and sing along while cooking marsmallows :heh:
